Final day for the welding fabrication competition as well as audio radio production. Both teams have submitted their final products and gone through their debriefings. Now we wait until Friday night to see if we placed! After the competition SkillsUSA hosted an event for the participants in Centennial Park with music, games, and food trucks.

Day three in Atlanta is in the books. Marshfield students finish their competitions tomorrow afternoon. They have been working hard to stay sharp while they wait for their chance to show what they can do and are representing both Oregon and Marshfield extremely well. Time to rest up and get ready for tomorrow!

Day 2 at the National Leadership and Skills Competition! Students had their competition orientations, and had the chance to meet with different vendors at the conference. We finished the day with the opening ceremony. Wednesday the audio/radio competition begins at 8AM EST and the welding fabrication team will have their written test!

Exciting news from the MHS Manufacturing Industrial Skills Competition.

MHS Industrial Skills Contest - The MHS Industrial Skills Contest has been underway for the past couple weeks. MHS manufacturing teacher Glen Crook organized a local competition with students from Bandon, Coquille, Myrtle Point and Marshfield.

Competitors were delivered materials and blueprints then used their own shops to perform the task of the blueprint. After two weeks the projects were picked up and are currently waiting to be judged by local business professionals from industry partners.

There have been 159 entries from 4 schools.

Students in MHS Broadcasting Courses are making their own digital content this quarter. Students are working on short audio shows, video shows, blogs, and even a little photography and want to share their work. These products are 100% student created and show that with a little hard work and inspiration what can be done. Most productions are being done with limited equipment and it has been incredible to see what this communities young people can do. We hope to share different products each week, and to kick things off here is "Life as a shut in teen" enjoy!
