Looking for a fun (and free!) family activity this August? 🌿 Check out the Coos Watershed Association's Summer Science Movies in the Park! What an incredible opportunity to enjoy an evening together as a family while learning about our local environment. 🍿🌳🐛
We are teaming up with Coos Bay - City Government to offer a third year of summer watershed movies, this time in a park instead of parking lot! We are moving our event to the Mingus Park amphitheater, which has more space to spread out and move around, and lots more parking.
We are excited to announce this year's lineup, starting with The Extraordinary Caterpillar, a super cool documentary about plants and the tiny insects that make the world go 'round. CoosWA staff members Alexa and Anders will give a short talk before the movie about pollinators, moths, native plants, and the South Coast Pollinator Pathway. And if you have, come see it again with us! Kristopher Murphy from The Coquille Tribe will kick us off with a short presentation about wetlands, keystone species, and the balance between people and nature.
All events are free and will start just before sunset. BRING LAYERS, as it does get chilly once the sun goes down. We will be providing free pizza and popcorn (while supplies last) and encourage people to bring a picnic dinner and something comfortable to sit on.
