Congratulations and Welcome, James Harris!
Please join us in congratulating James Harris on his appointment as the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Assessment and Intervention Coordinator and Principal of Cooper Landing School.
James brings more than 20 years of educational leadership experience, serving students, educators, and communities at the school, district, state, and federal levels. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to ensuring every student has access to meaningful learning opportunities, targeted support, and the resources needed to succeed.
His passion for education is rooted in his own life experiences and his belief that schools have the power to change—and even save—lives. This purpose has guided his work as a collaborative leader focused on strengthening instructional practices, using data to drive student growth, and supporting educators in providing high-quality, evidence-based instruction.
As Assessment and Intervention Coordinator, James will help lead district efforts to enhance student achievement through thoughtful assessment practices, effective interventions, and collaborative support for schools. In his role as Principal of Cooper Landing School, he will work alongside students, families, staff, and the community to foster a welcoming environment where every student can thrive.
James is excited to continue serving KPBSD and contributing to our mission of Supporting Students in Life Success through collaboration, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to student success.
