Family representation is needed at Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) meetings for the upcoming school year from families with students of all age levels - including early childhood, elementary, middle school, high school, and transition-aged students - with a full continuum of student disabilities. The focus of meetings is driven by parents' interests and resources that benefit all families of students served in special education.

👋 Join SEAC for its first meeting of the year this Thursday, Oct. 8 from 6-7 p.m. at the Educational Service Center in Anoka.

❓What it is: SEAC (pronounced “seek”) is comprised of parents/guardians of students in the district who receive Special Education services.

🩷 Why it matters: The intent of SEAC is to advise the school district on parent involvement, current issues, program development and established department priorities. The council serves as a resource and an advisory council for special education programs in the district.

Our first food distribution is happening today, after school from 3:15-5:15. Please see the information below.

Through our partnership with Hope for the Community, we host a free distribution on the fourth Tuesday of each month throughout the school year (September through May).

Location & Arrival: Please park in the south lot or near the curb and enter through Door 10.

How It Works

Registration: First-time visitors will complete a brief form (name, household size, zip code, and signature) that registers your family for the full school year.

Bags: We will provide reusable red Hope for the Community bags on your first visit. Please hang onto these and bring them back for future monthly distributions.

Available Items: Food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Expected items for this week include Jack Links meat sticks, frozen French baguettes, cereal bowls (rice crispies & corn flakes), spaghetti in tomato sauce with meat (cans), Healthy Request chicken noodle soup cans, macaroni and cheese, dry pinto beans, dry black turtle beans, bulk red potatoes, bulk sweet corn, half-gallon milk, and frozen boneless chicken breasts.

Alternative Location
If you ever need resources outside of our monthly school schedule, you are also welcome to visit the main Hope for the Community site in Blaine. They host a weekly Thursday curbside pickup from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the program.

Technology plays an important role in preparing students for life, and Chromebooks are utilized as a daily learning tool in Anoka-Hennepin middle and high school classrooms. Anoka-Hennepin students in grades 6-12 are assigned a Chromebook from the school district to ensure access to technology systems that support classroom learning.

Over 28,000 Chromebooks are distributed to students the first week of school. As careful as students and schools are, accidents do happen - and thousands of Chromebooks are returned at the end of the school year with damages.

Families have the option to enroll in the Device Protection Plan to avoid costly repairs and downtime. The enrollment window is open until Friday, Oct. 30, 2026. Learn more:
