Cotton Days Parade…Here we come! Hope to see our little preschoolers there❤️

Preschool and 2nd grades project duck eggs hatched last week Monday in the incubator! I am happy to report we have 4 fluffy and healthy little ducklings❤️❤️

We are partnering with to give children in our community a free tree to plant at home during Earth Week!

There are 3 ways to participate!

Sign-ups are open now through March 15th, and trees will arrive the week of Earth Day (April 22). We’ll contact you when your tree is ready for pick-up at the library!

Who is taller than the penguin?😂

Today, the preschool class explored the science of hibernation through a hands-on and exciting experiment. The children began by observing a bowl filled with ice and water, discussing how cold temperatures feel and how animals are affected by winter weather. Next, the class made a hypothesis about what might happen when they placed their hand into cold water while protected by a bag filled with Crisco.
Each child took a turn placing their hand inside a clean plastic bag coated with Crisco and then gently dipping it into the cold water. To their amazement, they discovered that their hands stayed warm! This experiment helped the children understand how animals prepare for hibernation by eating extra food and building up fat. They learned that this layer of fat works like insulation, keeping animals warm and providing nourishment while they sleep through the winter.
After completing the experiment, the children gathered at the table to reflect on what they learned. They expressed their understanding by drawing pictures of hibernating animals, showcasing their creativity and new knowledge. This activity supported early scientific thinking, encouraged curiosity, and helped the children make meaningful connections between real-life animal behavior and hands-on learning.

Today, the class played the game “Don’t Break the Ice”. During the activity, the children practiced taking turns while carefully tapping the ice blocks, trying not to make the penguin fall. This game supported the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving abilities. The children also demonstrated social-emotional skills by encouraging one another, practicing patience, and following game rules while working together in a positive and supportive environment.
