Our 9th and 10th Grade Biology students completed their first of many labs this year by developing their microscope skills! Students learned how to properly use the microscope and sharpened their skills in observing and studying the world around them. We’re excited to see where their curiosity and scientific discovery take them this year!

Centers time! Our youngest learners love the opportunity to practice new skills through hands-on activities, purposeful play, and collaboration with their classmates. From building and creating to practicing academic skills, centers give our kindergartners the chance to learn and explore.

Second grade has had so much fun learning with our new Logic of English curriculum! This program has lots of “moving parts,” which means even more opportunities for hands-on learning. While learning, they get to weave phonograms into game play, making practice both purposeful and fun!

So far, students have enjoyed Phonogram Bingo and Tic-Tac-Toe, along with practicing spelling on whiteboards rather than only using pencil and paper. We love seeing our second graders engaged, moving, playing, and learning!

The Senior Buddies and Primary Pals have been matched! 🦁💙💛

One of the sweetest blessings of being a K-12 school is the opportunity for our youngest and oldest students to know, encourage, and celebrate one another. One of our favorite traditions is our Primary Pals and Senior Buddies program.

Each year, our seniors are paired with a Primary School class during a special matching ceremony. Seniors open their envelopes to discover which class they’ll be cheering on throughout the year!

As schedules allow, our Senior Buddies will join their pals for special events and spend time with them during the school day. And in return, our Primary Pals will be some of their seniors’ biggest cheerleaders as they celebrate milestones throughout their final year at HRA.

We look forward to seeing these friendships grow!

Last week our Primary School classrooms got a makeover thanks to the generous support of our annual fund donors! There were smiles all around and even a 2nd grade "Desks and Doughnuts" celebration party!

Congratulations Mrs. Rippy!

Lower school teacher Mrs. Amanda Rippy will be expanding her responsibilities this year by taking on the role of Librarian for both of our school's libraries.

"My vision for the HRA libraries is to build a strong collection, based first on the school's recommended book list. Every library should have things for all kinds of readers, but should be built on the vision and philosophy of the program. I will ensure we are prioritizing great stories, both nonfiction and fiction. Stories feed our souls in a way nothing else can. We are people of the Word and we are built to consume stories.

I would also like to see the libraries become thriving places of fellowship within our school. Much like in a home where the kitchen tends to be the place people gravitate to I would love our libraries to be that for HRA. Part of making the spaces pleasant for fellowship is the actual organization of the space. Making the libraries functional for our students and staff and keeping up with what books we have and who has them currently is an important way to make them places students want to be.

I would like to have time with the students to teach them basic library skills like the Dewey Decimal system, parts of a book (for the younger students), and the joy in having a time of listening to great stories (for students of all ages).

Research shows that academic success is greatly influenced by the amount of books you have available to you, and I want to help make that area of HRA as successful as possible."

Thank you to Mrs. Rippy for fulfilling this important role.
