Congrats to ECE’s very own Caz Bilbrey winner of “Miss Service” at TTU’s 2023 Homecoming. Caz, and her sorority Omega Phi Alpha, worked together with members of the TTU and Cookeville communities to donate over 1,000 items to the TTU Food Pantry. Congratulations Caz, your department is very proud of all your hard work and service minded leadership, we look forward to seeing what your future brings!

We are delighted to announce the promotion of four ECE faculty to the rank of Full Professor, effective August 1, 2023. Kudos to each of these faculty for their hard work, dedication to Tennessee Tech students, and service to Tennessee Tech.

The faculty are: Dr. Indranil Bhattacharya, Dr. J.W. Bruce, Dr. Rafay Hasan, and Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud.

We could not be prouder of both their individual accomplishments and the way that they have shaped and continue to shape ECE at Tennessee Tech!

We are so proud of Amanda Miller, winner of an Excellence in Advising award! Amanda is the advisor of all ECE undergraduate students after their first year.

Tennessee Tech recently honored several students, faculty and staff at the university’s annual Celebration of Excellence. This event paid tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated hard work and dedication to always putting students first this past year.

One of the Excellence in Advising Awards were given to Amanda Miller from the College of Engineering.

On the nomination for Miller, her supporter said, “Amanda works to create a welcoming and respectful environment making the student comfortable and fostering strong lines of communication and encouragement. It is important to Amanda that students are not just supported academically but holistically throughout their time at Tech.”

Congrats Kester!!

Kester M. Nucum has been named the recipient of the 2023 Derryberry Award, Tennessee Tech’s highest student honor.

"There is also such a tremendous sense of community on campus and in Cookeville. People here care so much. I came from a rural, small town in west Tennessee, and that meant a lot to me. I didn’t want to be siloed, so I got involved on campus quickly with lots of activities and clubs that connected with my interests," said Nucum.

Nucum was named the recipient of the prestigious Derryberry Award for his scholastic attainment, moral and intellectual integrity, campus participation, good citizenship and leadership.

Congratulations to ECE faculty member Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud, who has won the Caplenor Award, Tennessee Tech University's top award for research!

The 2023 winner of the Caplenor Faculty Research Award at Tennessee Tech University is a busy man. Aside from winning that prestigious award, he has also won the nationally competitive Fulbright United States Scholar Award.

ECE is delighted to have collaborated in the creation of this new program in Live Audio. The new program embeds our new ECE minor, and a minor in live audio has also been created that will be available to ECE students (and others).

Starting this fall, Tennessee Tech University will offer a bachelor of science in music with a degree option that focuses on live audio. The new program is designed specifically to train audio engineers for future careers in the live performance industry.
