What is social distancing?
Social distancing measures are steps you can take to reduce social interaction between people.
They are to:
*Avoid contact with someone who is displaying symptoms.
*Avoid non-essential use of public transport when possible.
*Work from home, where possible.
*Avoid large and small gatherings in public spaces.
*Avoid gatherings with friends and family.
*Use telephone or online services to contact your GP or other essential services
Everyone should be trying to follow these measures as much as is practicable.

Social distancing is a set of non-pharmaceutical infection control actions intended to stop or slow down the spread of a contagious disease.
Social distancing is most effective when an infection can be transmitted via droplet contact (coughing or sneezing); direct physical contact, including sexual contact; indirect physical contact (e.g. by touching a contaminated surface such as a fomite); or airborne transmission (if the microorganism can survive in the air for long periods)
To stop the spread of coronavirus, health officials have instructed the public to practice social distancing -- staying home, avoiding crowds and refraining from touching one another. Although living like that can be lonely, inconvenient and even frightening, it's for the greater good.
