SALEM HIGH SCHOOL RUNNING NOLES 2026 GHSA REGION AA BOYS TEAM CHAMPIONS

The Salem High School Running Noles boys track and field team has delivered an exceptional and memorable season, marked by growth, excellence, and historic achievement. From the outset, the Running Noles established themselves as a dominant force against some of the best teams in the state. On April 30, they showcased their depth and determination at the GHSA Region 6-AA Track and Field Championships, capturing the team title in commanding fashion with 181 points finishing an impressive 54 points ahead of their nearest competitor. This victory not only reflected their talent, but also their commitment to teamwork and excellence. Their success continued into postseason competition, where 22 athletes across 13 events advanced to the GHSA Sectional Preliminary Meet, with 15 athletes ultimately qualifying for the GHSA Class AA State Championships in nine events. At the state championship meet held at the University of Georgia, Salem finished an outstanding 9th overall out of 45 teams. The team earned two state runner-up finishes, with the 4x400-meter relay setting a new school record time of 3:22.5 and the 4x800-meter relay also claiming second place. Strong individual performances further elevated the team, including Daniel Ward’s 3rd-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles and Rickey Rucker’s 8th-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Guided by the leadership of Dr. Lonnie White and Alec Jacobs, who were both honored as Region 6-AA Coaches of the Year by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association, the Running Noles embodied their season motto: “All in & Then Some…Go Noles.”

From our community partner Conyers Rockdale Economic Development Council (CREDC): Jr.CREDC has launched a short survey designed specifically for high school students (grades 9–12) in the Conyers/Rockdale area to better understand how teens think about money — how they spend it, what they know about saving and credit, and where (if anywhere) they've actually been taught financial skills. The survey takes about 5 minutes and students who complete it will be entered to win a prize.

PROUD of our students learning important, life-saving skills over the summer! RCPS middle school and high school students aspiring to be Student Athletic Aides and team managers receive sports medicine training, labs, CPR training, and hands-on workshops this week during RCPS SAA Camp. Student Athletic Aides help Certified Athletic Trainers provide a safe environment for student-athletes. This is a multi-year program, with SAAs in their 2nd and 3rd year helping first year students during the camp. Here are a few scenes.

Campers explored wonders of the world through science and art at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology's STEAM Summer Camp, June 8-11, 2026. Campers extracted DNA from strawberries, created erupting volcanoes, built rockets, classified dinosaur eggs, created their own fossils, analyzed owl pellets, learned about brains, biomes, and how to use microscopes, tie-dyed shirts, and much more. As another school year comes to a close, our hearts are full of gratitude.
