RCPS and Heritage High School were thrilled to welcome esteemed members of Heritage High School alumni to be honored at the Third Annual Patriot Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, September 18, 2026. HHS Principal Dr. Marcus S. Washington and Athletic Director Dr. Dorian Powell Harris and HHS recognized selected alumni for their outstanding achievements and contributions which have left an indelible mark on Heritage High School.
Ms. Jewel May Pogue is a distinguished graduate of Heritage High School and was one of the leading scorers in the history of the Heritage Lady Patriots Basketball program. She continued her athletic career at the University of South Carolina, where she competed in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), appeared in 118 career games, and became a three-year starter known for her leadership, resilience, and commitment to her team. Following her collegiate career, she earned advanced degrees and has built a successful professional career in human resources and organizational leadership, exemplifying excellence both on and off the court,
Mr. Andy Mitchell is a distinguished graduate of Heritage High School and was a student performer for the Patriots baseball program, helping lead Heritage to a 1997 Region Championship. Following high school, he continued his career at Georgia Tech, where he developed into a key contributor on the pitching staff before signing with the Baltimore Orioles organization. Mitchell spent a decade in professional baseball, advancing to the Triple-A level and participating in Major League Spring Training establishing himself as one of Heritage High School’s most accomplished baseball alumni.
Mr. Dayo Akindele is a distinguished graduate of Heritage High School and one of the most accomplished track and field athletes in school history. He continued his athletic career at the Division I level, competing for both Kennesaw State University and the University of Houston, where he excelled in the hurdles and jumps. As a conference champion and NCAA postseason qualifier, Dayo captured the 2021 American Athletic Conference title in the 110-meter hurdles and earned a berth to the NCAA Division I Championships. Ms. Delaney Willette is a distinguished graduate of Heritage High School and one of the most accomplished swimmers in Lady Patriots history. During her high school career, she established multiple Heritage High School swimming records and was a two-time GHSA State Championship finalist, including a state runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke. She continued her athletic career at Gardner-Webb University, competing at the NCAA Division I level while excelling in the backstroke and butterfly events. Her success at both the high school and collegiate levels reflects the dedication, discipline, and competitive spirit that define Heritage High School athletics.
Mr. Dax Langley is a distinguished graduate of Heritage High School who continued his athletic career at the University of Georgia on a full football scholarship, where he served as a placekicker and earned four varsity letters as a member of the Bulldogs football program. During his career at Georgia, he contributed as a reliable specialist, scoring points through field goals and extra points while helping represent one of the nation’s premier football programs. After graduating with a degree in Consumer Economics, Dax found Langley Wealth Management, an independent wealth management firm in Athens, Georgia, where he helps individuals and families make informed financial decisions through comprehensive financial planning and investment guidance. His success in athletics, business, and community service reflects the excellence and professionalism that define Heritage High School alumni.
Mr. James White is a distinguished graduate of Heritage High School and one of the most accomplished basketball players in Patriots history. During his high school career, he earned First Team All-State honors and was named the 2021 Region 3-A Player of the Year after leading Heritage with exceptional scoring performances, finishing his varsity career with 1,412 points in just two seasons. As a senior, he averaged 27.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, establishing himself as one of Georgia’s top basketball prospects. He continued his collegiate career at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), competing in the Southeastern conference (SEC), before continuing his basketball journey at UAB and the University of New Orleans. His achievements at both high school and collegiate levels reflect the dedication, perseverance, and competitive excellence that define Heritage High School athletics.
Mr. Adrian Maddoz is a distinguished graduate of Heritage High School and one of the most accomplished football players in Patriot history. During his high school career, he excelled in both a wide receiver and defensive back, earning recognition as a standout athlete while helping represent Heritage with pride and determination. Following graduation, he continued his football career at the collegiate level, competing at Alabama State University and UAB before earning the opportunity to join the University of Georgia football program. As a member of the Georgia Bulldogs, he competed at the highest level of the NCAA Division I football, showcasing the talent, work ethic, and perseverance that have defined his athletic journey, His success at both the high school and collegiate levels reflects the dedication, discipline, and competitive excellence that define Heritage High School athletics.
