Integers are an important part of calculating various branches of thought, stretching from banking to sports to weather. Playing video games, reviewing deposits and/or withdrawals within any account or even looking at weight all involve integers.

They not only show a direct relationship to some starting point, but they also give description and meaning to the numbers that occur in real-world situations.

Introducing scholars to these skills at an early age will mean that in addition to gaining confidence in the subject, they will be able to utilize, strengthen, and expound upon these skills in the remainder of their math careers.

How can you help?
Parents can provide their scholars with various opportunities to identify different numbers as being either positive or negative. Parents can also allow their scholars to arrange the identified numbers in numerical order and allow them to provide understandings and descriptions of numbers and/or integer terms.
