Hendrix students have the exclusive opportunity to attend a Meet & Greet with acclaimed singer-songwriter and Hendrix alumnus Hayes Carll ’98.  Come hear about his journey from Hendrix to professional singer-songwriter. 
 
Hayes Carll has built an impressive career as one of Americana music’s most distinctive singer-songwriters. He has been nominated for a Grammy Award, earned multiple Americana Music Association nominations and awards, and received several Austin Music Awards. His songs have been recorded by artists Kenny Chesney, Lee Ann Womack, Brothers Osborne, and others, and his music has been featured in Yellowstone and the film, Country Strong.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter and Hendrix alumnus, Hayes Carll ’98, will give a solo acoustic concert on Friday, October 9, at 8 p.m. in Worsham Performance Hall at Hendrix.

Free for students, faculty, and staff, the concert is part of Homecoming & Family Weekend, October 9-11, as we kick off Hendrix’s Sesquicentennial celebration.

Saturday delivers another fantastic day as we continue our Homecoming & Family Weekend 2026 celebration. 🧡🖤

The day begins with family photos (you don’t want to miss them!), coffee & conversation with faculty, and the 150th Celebratory Music Convocation featuring the Hendrix Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Choir.

The afternoon brings a fun tailgate lunch, followed by a chance to cheer on our Warriors football team. 🏈

And the Homecoming spirit keeps going into the evening, with a Hendrix Through the Decades presentation at the Windgate Museum and an evening cookout with the Office of Community & Belonging and Students of Black Culture.

On Sunday, we’ll close out the weekend together with worship featuring Bishop Laura Merrill.

One very full Friday. Ten events. An awesome beginning.🧡🖤

Hendrix Homecoming & Family Weekend kicks off October 9, and we’re packing a lot into day one.

From attending classes to celebrating the re-opening of Galloway Hall, seeing the production of “The Hendrix Monologues,” cheering on women’s soccer, and Warrior spirit everywhere you look, there’s something happening all day long.

Friday will be capped off with an intimate acoustic concert with Hayes Carll ’98 in Worsham, starting at 8. (Tickets can be purchased at the door and include complementary b**r and w**e. Students get in free!) 🎶

What happens when nature is treated as a commodity?

Sophie Gray ’28 invites us to consider that question through “Commodification of Nature,” a new art exhibition she curated in collaboration with the Windgate Museum of Art and the Marshall T. Steel Center for the Study of Religion and Philosophy.

Bringing together work by eight artists, the exhibition explores how the monetization of nature can reshape our relationship with the environment and challenges us to consider more mindful and sustainable ways of relating to the natural world.

The exhibition is currently on display in Ellis Hall, with an opening reception Friday, October 9, from 4–5 p.m.

Free and open to the public, bestselling author, award-winning teacher, and storyteller Matthew Dicks will share his insights on storytelling, preaching, and the power of a compelling message.

He’ll also serve as the featured leader of this year’s John and Marjem Gill Preaching Workshop.
