Time for a pizza party!

Our sixth graders were challenged to write their own musical composition based on a fairytale and then perform their piece in front of their peers back in January! Afterward in February, our fifth graders read all of the compositions with the names covered and voted on their favorites in each class.

These girls earned the top spots for their sixth-grade classes and earned a pizza party during their lunch shift!

So proud of their creativity and hard work!

While our upper elementary students are busy learning how to read music, our lower elementary classes are diving into the basics of music notes! And what better way to explore them than by creating notes with playdough?

Here’s a peek at Mrs. Livingston’s first grade class hard at work and having fun!

We are officially two weeks away from showtime!

Our students have been working incredibly hard, memorizing their lines, learning choreography, and practicing all of the songs for Ezard Elementary’s very first musical! We are so proud of the dedication and enthusiasm they’ve shown, and they cannot wait to share their hard work with the community.

Please come support our amazing students as the Ezard Elementary Theatre Troupe presents Go Fish: The Musical! The performance is FREE, and we would love to see our families, friends, and community members there cheering on these talented young performers. It’s going to be a fun night full of music, laughter, and oceans of fun!

Third & Fourth Grade Families!

This note will be coming home with your student this week as we begin our instrument unit in music class!

All third and fourth-graders will be learning to play the recorder. I do have a classroom set that can be cleaned and sanitized between uses. However, families are welcome to purchase a recorder for their child if they would prefer.

Recorders can be found online (Amazon, etc.) for approximately $6–$10. Having their own recorder allows students to practice at home and share what they are learning in music class with you!

Please be on the lookout for the paper coming home soon. Let me know if you have any questions!

We’re starting a brand-new tradition in the music classroom! Each week, students will vote on their favorite Broadway musical as we work our way toward crowning our Spotlight Superstar.

We’ll kick things off with musical trailers, and as the weeks go on, we’ll explore iconic song clips from each show. I can’t wait to watch my students discover new favorites and fall in love with musical theatre! 🎭✨

Fifth grade has spent the last few weeks working on a musical theatre set design project. Students selected a story and reimagined it as a modern musical, designing their own stage sets and choosing songs to bring their vision to life. These examples from Ms. Looney’s class are incredible, they worked so hard and it shows!

I may have forgotten to take a photo last week during our first rehearsal, but we started tonights rehearsal with the sweetest group photo! I’m so grateful for every student who stepped out of their comfort zone to be part of our very first musical. Tonight’s rehearsal was full of singing, choreography, and so much joy. Plus I got to teach a jazz square! Being a music teacher truly fills my heart. ♥️

Mrs. Witt’s kindergarten class was tiny today, and my risers were off celebrating homecoming at the high school. So what did we do? Gathered around the piano for warm-ups like a little choir!

Our composer of the week is Clara Schumann, so when the kids asked if they could play the piano “just like Clara,” my teacher heart melted. Of course they could and they had a blast exploring a new instrument!

In March, our lower elementary students will be designing and building their very own musical instruments as part of our hands-on learning in music class! This project helps students explore sound, creativity, problem-solving, and instrument families while making music in a fun and meaningful way.

To make this happen, we’re collecting a few simple supplies. If you happen to have any of these items lying around at home, we would greatly appreciate your donations to the music room! Reusing materials helps keep costs down and teaches students the value of creativity and recycling, too.

Thank you so much for supporting our fine arts program and helping us make music together! 🎵

Exciting Musical Announcement!🐠

We are thrilled to officially announce that our Elementary Spring Musical will be Go Fish! by John Jacobson!
This fun, upbeat underwater adventure follows a colorful school of fish who may all be different, but learn that friendship, acceptance, and teamwork make the ocean a better place. With lively songs, lovable characters, and an empowering message, it’s the perfect show for our young performers!

New Performance Date:
Our musical will now take place on March 23rd, moved up from the original date of March 26th due to previous scheduling needs.

Important Participation Info:
Because of the high demand and excitement from students, participation will be limited. Only the first 50 students to return their permission forms will be able to take part in this after-school activity. Forms will go home soon, so keep an eye out!

We cannot wait to bring this joyful show to life and watch our students shine on stage! 🌊💙

Below are some of our excited fifth graders who couldn’t wait to grab a sign-up form today during music class!

Fun with first grade! Each grade level is working on a musical project throughout January, and first grade is exploring how music can help tell a story. Mrs. Livingston’s class did an amazing job creating sound effects and playing instruments to bring their story to life. Such great musicians!
