The Department of Physical Therapy at UCA offers a PhD in Physical Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), and a credentialed Residency in Pediatric Physical Therapy Program. The UCA Department of Physical Therapy began graduating students in 1972 as the first PT Program in the state of Arkansas . As a member of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, the Department of Physical Therapy is chaired by Dr. Kevin Garrison, PT, PhD.

The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Central Arkansas invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position.

Are you passionate about kinesiology, movement science, and educating the next generation of physical therapists? We’d love to hear from you!

This faculty member will contribute to teaching DPT-level clinical and foundational science coursework, with a primary emphasis in Kinesiology and Movement Science.

Congratulations to our scholarship recipients for 2026 including 10 DPT students who were awarded 4 Physical Therapy scholarships. Some students were able to attend the UCA Scholarship Reception held on 9-24-26 at the Farris Center. Congratulations to Dr. James Fletcher on his decision to retire from UCA as of May 2027, marking his 31st year as a faculty member in the Department of Physical Therapy. As educator, researcher, clinician, mentor, advisor, colleague and friend, Dr. Fletcher has positively influenced and impacted his students, the curriculum, the PT profession, as well as his colleagues, and the broader university community. After years of teaching excellence, research, and extensive university service, Dr. Fletcher is often looked to as the wisdom in the room and will be missed greatly. We wish him the very best as he makes plans for his life after retirement.

NeuroFit is a group of individuals with TBI, stroke, or other neurological disorders who meet weekly on Thursdays from 4-5! They have sessions consisting of fun therapeutic activities. Neurofit also allows students from UCA programs (PT, OT, and exercise science) to learn and practice what they have been taught in class.
