CCU Exercise & Sport Science Explore Exercise Science and Sport Studies at Coastal Carolina University We have responded by providing contemporary and attractive academic programs.

The Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies (KRSS) at Coastal Carolina University is a dynamic unit of faculty, staff, and students that studies and promotes human movement (kinesiology) as applied to a variety of physical activity, sport, therapeutic, and recreation settings. Nationally, regionally, and locally, there is a demand for kinesiology services and programs. KRSS has experienced rapid growth over the last few years, and currently is the CCU department with the largest undergraduate enrollment. Within the programs of Exercise and Sport Science or Recreation and Sport Management, almost 1,000 students choose full time study in KRSS. Our role is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes for effective leadership in today’s physical activity, recreation and sport. We excel not only by teaching well, but by engaging students in hands-on research, community service projects, and field-based leadership opportunities. In the fast-growing world of kinesiology and KRSS, students will find opportunity – opportunities to learn, to grow, and to lead in a stimulating, current, and engaging academic environment.

Today is the day, get your steps in!

You crushed it with your steps last year — thanks to you, we placed 2nd! This year let’s go for No. 1.

We’re competing against ECU, Purdue, Michigan State, and many others — and we need everyone on our campus to help us come out on top.

Invite your friends, roommates, classmates, and co-workers — every step adds up! Let’s not settle for 2nd.

Let’s own 1st place this year!
Tuesday October 14, 2025 !

Instructions below!

Sync or manually log steps using your preferred device or app (Fitbit, Apple Health, Garmin, etc.).

Collect and submit your steps within your chosen 8-hour period - using the QR code on the attachment.

Steps are averaged across participants—so every walker makes a difference! Tell your friends or challenge your department colleagues!

Universities compete for the highest average daily steps and for top participation rates.

See you out walking — and beating the competition! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
