Conway Orchestras

Conway Orchestras OPUS (Orchestra Parents United in Support) is the parent booster club for the Conway Public Schools Orchestra program in Conway, Arkansas.

The Conway Public Schools Orchestra program is one of only fifteen public school string programs in the state of Arkansas. Serving nearly 300 students in grades 6-12 across six campuses, the responsibility of directing the program is shared by three full-time staff. Many of our students attend summer camps and are enrolled in private lessons, and our students consistently place in the All-Region a

nd All-State Orchestras, the most competitive string groups in the state. Additionally, many of our graduating seniors receive scholarship money to continue their musical studies in college.

After convocation on Wednesday morning, our students were treated to a yummy lunch, donated by Cactus Jack’s in Conway! We’re so thankful for their willingness to feed us! We also celebrated both Mr. Buck’s birthday on Wednesday and Dr. James’s birthday on Thursday (no comment as to how many hundreds of years old they are 😆😇). Huge thanks to our OPUS Booster board for making the meal happen, to Mrs. Choate for helping serve, and again to Cactus Jack’s for the delicious food!

Mamma Mia! Here we go again!! Another school year is just about to begin! In attendance at next Wednesday’s event will be all 1,300+ faculty and staff members, including our admin team, school board, and many city officials! We were proud to recognize Ann Al-Uraiby and Rebekah Pendergraft of the Class of 2026 at the annual CHS Music Scholarship Signing on Monday night. Both ladies are helping pay for college by continuing their musical studies! Ann will be attending Hendrix College this fall, majoring in biology with a minor in music. Rebekah is headed to Southwest Baptist to study English and Psychology, and will continue to play her viola in the orchestra. The eleven music students we honored Monday are receiving a combined total of $152,000 in music scholarships!
