We're wrapping up our summer Edwards College new faculty series by welcoming a large group of new colleagues in the CCU Languages & Intercultural Studies department. It’s exciting to bring in the fresh new voices of so many scholars and passionate teachers who will be teaching French, Spanish, and Italian languages and culture.
Please welcome full time faculty members Ian Michalski and Stacey Battis, featured in the photos. Additionally, we're fortunate to have five new visiting lecturers join us:
• Daniele Meregalli joins as visiting lecturer of Italian. Meregalli, a native of Florence, Italy, holds a Ph.D. in Italian studies from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill; an M.A. in Italian studies, European literary cultures, and linguistics from the University of Bologna; and a B.A. in Italian language and literature from the University of Florence.
• Franciso Carrillo joins as visiting lecturer of Spanish. Carrillo holds a Ph.D. in Chicano/Latino studies in Spanish from Arizona State University, an M.A. in Spanish from California State University-Fresno, and a B.A. in Spanish with an emphasis in culture from Fresno Pacific University.
• Meaghan Jeanne Coogan joins as visiting lecturer of Spanish. Coogan holds a Ph.D. in Romance languages and literatures with a focus in Hispanic studies from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and an M.A. in Spanish and French from the University of Alabama.
• Marco Mena joins us as visiting lecturer of Spanish. Mena, a native of Costa Rica, holds an M.S. in Spanish pedagogy from Minnesota State University-Mankato and a B.A. in TESOL from the University of Northern Iowa.
• Angela Pierce joins as visiting lecturer of Spanish. Pierce holds a Ph.D. in Spanish literatures, languages, and cultures from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and an M.A. in Spanish from Texas State University.

Are you visiting campus this summer? Be sure to check out the "Best of Kiln" exhibitions in all of the Cube Galleries.
Best of Kiln is a curated group exhibition displaying artwork from ARTS 204 Introduction to Ceramics and ARTS 421 Advanced Ceramics. This exhibit highlights the meticulous control that defines the absolute best work to emerge from the fire.

From the classroom to an international stage, professor of English, Dr. Kate Faber Oestreich recently taught at the Digital Humanities Summer Institute at the Université de Montréal. Her course, "Markup, Maps, and Multimedia: Building Digital Projects with COVE," equipped graduate students, faculty, and independent scholars with digital humanities skills they can apply to research, teaching, and public scholarship.
