As we return to school tomorrow, please remember CPSD has a mask mandate for the next ten (10) school days.
Just a reminder- Conway Public Schools will be CLOSED Monday January 17th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Conway Schools Board of Education met for the January board meeting this evening. Here is a recap of tonight's meeting.
Beginning Tuesday January 18th, masks will be required for all CPSD students and staff. The district-wide mask mandate will be for ten (10) school days, and applies to all CPSD facilities and extracurricular activities at all times. On January 30th, we will review the data and make a decision whether or not to continue mask wearing.
Please make sure your student has a proper-fitting mask and wears it to school on Tuesday. We need your help to keep students in school, safe, and healthy.
Simon Middle School Math Teacher Denise Dacus talks to our school board about classroom teaching and learning strategies.
Thank you, Mrs. Dacus!
Because we have seen an increase in the number of COVID cases and those who have had to be quarantined as a result of exposure, all CPSD students and staff will remain home starting tomorrow- Wednesday January 12th through Friday January 14th. Students will work on virtual assignments- found on Seesaw (grades K-4) and Schoology (grades 5-12)- while at home. If your student does not have their Chromebook or is unable to get online, they will be able to make up the assignments when they return to school.
Meal boxes for students will be available to pick up tomorrow, Wednesday, morning from 8-11 am at the Food Service Warehouse. (1902 Hairston)
School is dismissed Monday for MLK DAY, so we will see everyone back Tuesday January 18th.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we make this decision in the best interest of our staff and our students.
There are now new COVID protocols for schools. These have been emailed to all CPSD parents/guardians, and are available on our website
www.conwayschools.org/cpsdcovid
Although the CDC has changed their return protocols/recommendations for positive cases, CPSD remains under the authority of the Arkansas Departments of Health and Education, who have NOT changed any protocols involving positive cases in schools.
If a student tests positive for COVID-19, they are required to isolate for 10 calendar days from onset of symptoms or date of test for asymptomatic students. The student may return to school after 10 days and should have a release letter from the health department.
If your child has tested positive, and you have questions about these protocols, please call your child’s school, and our school nurses and administrators can provide help and further clarification.
Over the last couple of weeks, COVID-19 case numbers in Arkansas and across the country have increased. The CDC has issued new guidance for the general public; however, the Arkansas Departments of Health and Education have not made any changes to their guidance for schools at this time.State leaders will meet with school superintendents tomorrow morning to discuss current COVID circumstances in Arkansas and any changes in guidance that might be needed. If they recommend any changes in protocols or procedures for our schools, we will communicate that to you promptly. In the meantime, please review our current district protocols and mitigation strategies and help keep our students and staff safe by following them. We are so grateful for the tireless and thorough work of the Conway Police Department this week- and always.
There will be additional officers on campus today.
