Alumni in Action: Chloe Holmes

From the page to the stage! Coastal Carolina University alum Chloe Holmes celebrated a major creative milestone as Dreamhouse Theatre in Myrtle Beach presented the first full production of her original play, ATTIC FLOWERS, September 23–27.

Directed by Patrice Reynolds and featuring CCU students alongside community actors, this multigenerational comic-drama follows a teenager whose discovery of her mother’s diary opens a window into her family’s past. The story explores identity, love, loss, and the secrets that connect generations. ATTIC FLOWERS had its first public reading as part of CCU Theatre’s Discovery Season in September of 2025, directed by Harper Davis and mentored by Professor Monica Bell.

Congratulations, Chloe, on bringing your story to life - and to the cast and creative team who helped it bloom!

Becoming Anna at Brookgreen Gardens

Discover the woman behind the art in a special
theatrical presentation celebrating Anna Hyatt
Huntington, pioneering sculptor and cofounder of
Brookgreen Gardens.

Ella Cherry of Coastal Carolina University Theatre
brings Anna’s story to life, exploring her artistic
journey, passion for sculpture, and the experiences
that shaped her work and legacy.

Joining Ella as her scene partner is Angus, Brookgreen
Gardens’ Scottish Deerhound. Angus is the same
breed as Anna’s beloved dogs and a direct descendant
of the dogs she had while living in South Carolina. The
attached photos offer a glimpse of Ella and Angus at
today’s dress rehearsal.

An enormous thank-you to Bethany Sassen, our
costume shop manager, for volunteering her time and
talent to design Ella’s costume.

Performances take place Saturday, October 17:

12:00 p.m. at Palmetto Gardens

1:00 p.m. at the Purdy Center

Each performance lasts approximately 15 minutes.

If you’re available, please come out to see Ella and
Angus perform and experience Anna Hyatt
Huntington’s remarkable story in a new way!
