NYC Trip Days 2 and 3 were filled with valuable experiences at the Global Asset Management Education (GAME) Conference. Logan Kelly, Benjamin Powell, Bryson Watts, and Liam Schmidt represented CCU at the Student Managed Investment Portfolio competition and presented the Boyles Fund. They also connected with numerous leaders in the finance industry and I hope they learned a lot from this experience.

During the ‘Best Practices in Student Managed Investment Funds’ session, Robert B. Burney, Ph.D., CMA, CFM served as a panelist, sharing insights on what contributes to a successful experience for students in managed funds. It was great to see him as a panelist on such a important topic and at an impactful conference.

This trip to NYC was a fantastic opportunity for our students, and I am grateful they could participate.

Thank you, Osman Kilic and everyone at Quinnipiac University for organizing the GAME Forum.

I also appreciate Erika Engel Small for supporting our students.

Day 1 of the New York City trip was a success. We spent the morning at the NYSE, then the afternoon at Bloomberg HQ, and finished the evening with a CCU finance alumni gathering. Special thanks to Joe Allegro and all the wonderful people at NYSE. We thanks Steven Tully for the hospitality at Bloomberg HQ and spending the afternoon with our finance students reviewing several Bloomberg Terminal functions. Great to see Doug Mullen, Anthony Deni, and Thomas Horowitz representing CCU finance so well in NYC.

Our CCU students Logan Kelly, Benjamin Powell, Liam Schmidt, and Bryson Watts are looking forward to the Global Asset Management Education (GAME) Forum beginning tomorrow.

This past Tuesday, the Finance and Economics Department at Coastal Carolina University hosted an outstanding Fall 2025 Boyles Fund Event!

Our students delivered impressive presentations, sharing their Boyles Fund investment recommendations with the Coastal Education Foundation. Their preparation, professionalism, and analytical insight were truly exceptional.

The event brought together students, faculty, alumni, industry partners, and the Boyles Family and friends—a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when our community unites to support experiential learning and student success.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event so meaningful. Moments like these highlight the impact of hands-on education and the enduring legacy of the Boyles Fund.

Proud of our Finance Chanticleers and excited for the future of this program!

We had the incredible opportunity to visit New York City this week with an exceptional group of finance students. This experience wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of Chris St. John, Rad Lowery, and Erika Small—we’re deeply grateful for your commitment to student success.

A special thank you to Joe Allegro, a proud CCU Finance alum, for helping us coordinate a behind-the-scenes tour of the New York Stock Exchange, joining us at Bloomberg HQ, and attending an alumni dinner.

Our students—Logan Kelly, Justin Wardell, Stephen Kitner, and Louis Bock
—gained invaluable insight into the asset management industry and proudly represented the Boyles Student-Managed Investment Fund at the Global Asset Management Education Forum.

We’re excited to continue expanding programs in the Finance and Economics Department that bring learning to life and open doors for our students to thrive in the real world.

On behalf of everyone at Coastal Carolina University’s Finance and Economics Department, we’d like to congratulate Brooke Stein and Logan Kelly for both securing internships for this upcoming summer!

Here is what Brooke had to say about her internship this summer:

“My name is Brooke Stein and I am thrilled to join Dorman Products as their Financial Planning and Analysis Intern in the company’s corporate location in Suburban Philadelphia. I will assist in preparing financial reports, work on financial modeling, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on business strategies. I’m excited to gain real-world experience while contributing to the company’s profitability initiatives. I am really looking forward to this invaluable experience and all the opportunities that lie ahead!”

Here is what Logan had to say about his upcoming internship, how he secured it, and his future goals:

“My name is Logan Kelly, and I have an upcoming internship with First National Bank Corporation as part of the Treasury Management team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this role, I will collaborate with the Product Development team to implement customer-driven solutions and assist in the strategic investment of excess cash. I secured this opportunity through LinkedIn and by building a strong connection with the recruiter prior to my final round interview. I have also previously interned at FedEx, and plan to pursue a career in Asset Management.”

Once again, congratulations to the both of you!! 😁👏
