Upward Bound Hgtc

Our summer program has wrapped up, but we're eager to apply the knowledge and experiences gained as we start a new school year.

This week our focus has been on business etiquette and appropriate dress, with special speakers and a very fun trip to the Ekklesia Church prom closet to get all decked out for our formal meal.

We rounded out our June time together with a trip to Charleston to the International African American Museum and to the College of the Building Arts where we saw students doing stonework, woodworking, blacksmithing, architecture and the decorative arts.

We have completed two weeks of our six week summer entrepreneurship series with our UB students. What fun we’ve had!

It has been such a joy to celebrate the Class of 2025 over the last month - Oh, the places you will go! Our graduates have enrolled in colleges from Georgia to Michigan, enlisted in the US Military, and even earned college certificates and credit prior to finishing high school! ConGRADulations!

Upward Bound HGTC joins the Carvers Bay family in mourning the loss of our beloved student, Christian Washington: a kind soul, a leader, a student athlete. Please join us in supporting the Bears and his family in this unthinkable loss.

Carvers Bay Early College and Career High School mourns the loss of Christian Washington, a bright and talented soul gone too soon. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, classmates, and all who knew and loved him.
May his memory live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Had a great college visit to Francis Marion University for a tour and a show at their Planetarium!

Summer Program 2024

It’s that exciting time of year when our students start thinking about graduation and college. We are so glad to get to shate these exciting milestones with them!

We had a great trip to Winthrop University today followed by a fun night at the Charlotte Hornets (vs Timberwolves) game!
