One of the state's busiest fire departments, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department serves the city's 42,000+ citizens and many of the more than 18 million tourists that visit the grand strand area annually. Our OLLI members had the opportunity, this spring, to visit one of the department's six fire stations to learn about how they serve, and respond to emergencies within the city.

Thank you to the City of Myrtle Beach Fire Department for this opportunity.

This past semester we visited L.W. Paul Living Historm Farm. Managed by the Horry County History Museum, the farm teaches the history of farming in Horry County through interpretive displays in a working traditional farm setting. Visitors to the farm have the opportunity to sample the everyday life of an Horry county farm family during the first half of the twentieth century. The farm's mission is to preserve and protect the materials and objects related to history and culture of the Horry County farm family during that era.
