Up and moving on from the Doodle House, Gualala, Medicino. Forgot to buy gas β½οΈ in Gualala π,
didn't twig to it for an hour,
so I was watching the tach π³.
Made it to little village Jenner by the Sea with a bit of breathing room..
Man down in the middle of the switchback main drag in town.
A car had hit the gas station/store owner 5 minutes before we came through. π EMS and FRs on scene within 10 mins. All hands on deck, it seemed.
Lovely ride with views back down Highway 1A South.
Golden Gate Bridge crossing #4,
no Vista View available so we made our own in the Presideo.
Followed the coastline toward SFO to drop off Saxton.βοΈ
Then across the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge to Fremont on the east pennisula.
I found a coffee with a predictable toilet π
John found a Korean grocery and picked us out some sushi.
πππ£βοΈ
John prone on the couch now.
Mom glad to stop driving π
I called dibs on the remote: Columboπ

After yesterday's driving, a later start today.
We had heard good stuff about Bowling Ball Beach, and Salt Point State Park.
A little picnic of leftovers and a shared sandwich.
I found a proper mocha.π
The best of today.
Mexican food for supper,
Stopped at local mart,
got some Vitamin C and π» for us elders to share.
Remote to Saxton for The Prestige.
Have you seen it?π³
Remote and πͺ𫧠then to John.
Brother Smooth..... and Young Sherlock.π€©
Moving tomorrow, Saxton βοΈ ex SFO.
Mom and John have 3 more nights.

Up and out of San Fran.
Loved Ms. Dawn's artist house.π
The GGB Vista Point was closed. π I had hoped to pull over and take Ansel Adams photos. I hear weekends have too many people clogging up the car lanes.
We pit-stopped at New Bait Shop Market & the Deli Conroe Independent School District
1 Gate 6 Rd, Sausalito, CA 94965. Great place.
Three business role models for us to consider:
1. Ferguson Motors, Sanderson, TX.
2. Coffee Shop, Galveston Wharf Area.
3. New Bait Shop Market & The Deli
Much to bring in foot traffic,
add in performance music and art.... the stuff workplace dreams are made of.
The views up Highway 1 were all new for the kids and long time ago for me.
Gorgeous weather today.
Little stops along the way: nature appreciation, photos, π§»π₯€βοΈ, switching drivers.
Found the next , Gualala, Medicino County.

We rotate the power of the remote. Works great.
This trip so far:

When you drive here,
or in any rugged hills/dales,
turn on Google Eco-drive and Terrain view.
It took me lots of hyperventilation to figure this out. ?
We all 3 are very proud of ourselves for figuring out public transport here.
Mom on MuniMobile for the streetcars,
Saxton on ClipperCard,
And John for his first Uber.
We have tomorrow's 6-hour drive to Mendicino up Highway 1 linked now for Google.
Some circus tricks to beat Google. (does anyone ever beat Google?)
Up the west side, across GGB, and hug the coast.
The kids have never seen it. π
Today we got up with no β°οΈ,
so nice.
Fashionably-late start.
We settled on SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art .
Closed it down at 5pm.
Saxton helped Mom with and went off with a a school friend.
John and I found Targetπ― Downtown SF.
John a π,
Mom a sweater.
John Ubered us home,
and we ate leftovers.
Lazy night,
research all ready to go. We move on early tomorrow.

Getting good at avoiding steepπ.π Always a beautiful eye full driving around here.
After driving round the Waterfront,
we headed north past the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco
toward Golden Gate Bridge In San Francisco California
and then on to Muir Woods National Monument.
We have been getting cousin earrings for years now, and the Muirs gift shop had some lovely silver nature dangly ones.
Back down the switchbacks,
Back across the GGBridge,
to drop Saxton to friends,
got ππand β½οΈ
Nice to walk Into a cozy warm little place.π«
Go, John Muir!πΊ
Weather colder than predicted. π§₯

Lots of tree-lined, flatter streets today because π I have found a way to persuade Google,
including keeping north always north.
The setting for eco-friendly wasn't enough, apparently,
so I added Waterfront (The Embarcadero) stops.
Crazy streets.π
My brain has been busy,
and I can feel the new dendrites. π€©
We had lots of joking around with the cable operators.
"Hey, it's you again."
Apparently, we are memorable?
We got on and off more than necessary, I guess.
Helpful locals and friendly tourists.π Turkish engineers.
I figured out the local transit app, fares, routes well enough to land-nav today.
Check out this system map.
I get a gold star?
We missed the Lombard Street get-off, so cycled back upstream. I got North/South disoriented.
Played with Lombard Street.
Made it to China Town,
ate and brought Saxton some to-go.
Some famous buildings as we walked.
Back to the π,
π,
and waited for π© his incoming Lyft.

Haven't figured out the topography of the city,
but getting better at wasting up for down for up for down. East-West seems overall flatter, trying to figure out how did it.
Tried some of the better resale shops,
freaked out when the algorithm started giving me advice on avoiding bed bugs with those purchases.π³
Parking here is an hourly lottery. Easy to take parking for granted.

Yesterday, our adventure made me wonder a lot about Mother Nature and human decisions.
If we take Saxton, we do the San Francisco Street Car route:
https://www.sftravel.com/things-to-do/attractions/iconic-sf/cable-cars
Here is AI TMI: "Russian Hill and Nob Hill are two adjacent, iconic summits forming part of a continuous north-south topographic ridge radiating through northeastern San Francisco. Despite sharing a strict urban grid layout that forces roads directly up extreme slopes, each hill features distinct geographic heights, grade changes, and physical workarounds to handle the dramatic drop to the San Francisco Bay.

Nob Hill Topography
Nob Hill serves as the high anchor directly bordering downtown and the Financial District.
Wikipedia
The Crest: The summit acts as a relatively high, compact plateau before dropping sharply on all sides.
Southern & Eastern Slopes: The descent toward Union Square and Chinatown features long, continuous, intense inclines. This terrain is famously conquered by the San Francisco Cable Car system, specifically the California Street line.
The "Tendernob": The southwestern slope transitions into a gentler, gradual grade as it meets the flatter Tenderloin valley floor.

Russian Hill Topography
Located immediately north of Nob Hill, Russian Hill presents a highly fractured, irregular terrain.
Wikipedia
The Crest: The peak features a dual summit pocket around Vallejo and Green Streets.
Extreme Steepness: Because the streets follow a rigid grid over severe drops, Russian Hill contains some of the steepest navigable urban roads in the Western Hemisphere. Filbert Street between Jones and Leavenworth hits a punishing 31.5% grade.
Pedestrian Workarounds: Due to the severe topography, many streets are impassable for cars. Planners bloc
