Gloria Ann Pollak honored!

Starting in 1982, my mother along with my late father , were an integral part of the ministries we served.
When Kathy and I served in Israel and Lebanon with High Adventure Ministries in the early eighties, they coordinated fund raising/ministry in the Houston area and starting in 1991 they led over a dozen Sharing International medical teams to Central America and Caribbean. Always a tireless, enthusiastic supporter and coordinator of our Texas office, she is someone we all have relied on for her intercessory prayer. And, one can always rely on getting a loving hug and genuine care!
Moving on from her administrative duties, Gloria will redouble her efforts in rallying prayer support our teams have grown to count on!!

Our dear friend and colleague, Dr. Chuck Thurston, passed away this week. It has taken me some time to know exactly what to say. We were introduced by our mutual friend , Dr. Chuck Warne in 1986.I had asked Dr. Warne if he would consider coming with a Sharing Medical Team on its first medical outreach in Haiti just after the revolution. He said “ No, but I know just the right person for such ministry escapades!”
We met, knew it was God, and for the next dozen medical teams in five countries he served in very difficult and sometimes dangerous places, leading our Sharing medical clinics in seeing up to 800 patients in a single day. My friend Chuck was at first brilliant, creative and brave….willing to share insights from medical journals and the Bible….and both at the same time! He dearly loved his family and cherished his friends, but would debate a point of history, politics and society without retreat…but always being open to new ideas.
One would never know when a call from Chuck would come…but it was always welcome as entertaining, educational and heartfelt. In all this, Therese was always on his lips, heralding love and respect for the love of his life.
I cannot say it any better than Chuck’s obituary but just to say…we loved Chuck and will miss him very much.

It seems to me that thankfulness is not just an occasion, but a lifestyle of clear-eyed recognition of the value and grace of our families and good friends given as gifts to us by God Himself. To all of our family and wonderful friends and partners around the world, may the Lord give you all a satisfying day of love and Thanksgiving !!!

In our country, it is the people who are responsible to hire and fire our presidents. With that responsibility comes ownership of the actions/reactions of that new administration on the domestic and international stage. Supporters “own” it.
My hope is that we as a country will not be ashamed…..but proud of our president’s actions as he represents us.

Down Texas to celebrate my Mom’s 95th birthday!! Amazed with her ability to deftly maneuver through the gargantuan twists and turns of the internet….but keeping up with her kids, her kid’s kids….and her kid’s kid’s kids is quite an incentive!!!

Vic Costello and I have known each other forever…..at least since grad school!!
In fact, we were together in Haiti as Sharing International was born in the waters off La Salle. After a hiatus of many years, we reconnected and found we remained similarly called to train committed believers in many nations to use media to share the Good News!
Since then, we have had the chance twice to teach a major film seminar in Ethiopia ….and this year with the Sharing International Team in Nigeria as part of Vision Africa’s Media Institute!
It is great to to partner with such a brother and friend with eminent qualifications to train such wonderful and committed young leaders!!

We are delighted to have Robert Zimmerman join the board of Sharing International. Over 13 years, Bob has served as Director of Operations and we’ve always been grateful for his commitment to our core vision, his hard work and astute project management. As he takes this step of deeper involvement and responsibility for/with our organization, we ask our friends and partners for prayer for him as he continues to use his gifts and talents in serving the Lord

Wow!! Heading home after a really successful 2024 Vision Africa Annual Media Institute! 400+ talented and eager attendees choosing 2 times the number of sessions in video, radio and management!
It is a privilege to work with Vision Africa, Galcom and Sharing International in such a great opportunity to empower those involved in the fast growing media industry!! What fun it was!!
