Founded by educators for educators, ATPE is the leading educators’ association in Texas.

Today is THE day! Please GET OUT AND VOTE!

Precinct Chair races are the BOTTOM of your ballot. Keep going until you had made your choice!

Retired Texas teachers need your help!!
This is important! Please share.
Prop 9 Vote YES!
Texas Voters: In November, there will be 14 propositions on the ballot. PROP 9 authorizes a cost-of-living (COLA) adjustment for some of the Teacher Retirement System annuitants. The monies to provide for this small COLA will NOT COST THE TAXPAYERS ANYTHING! The funds have already been allocated by the Legislature (from the budget surplus!)
We just need everyone in Texas to vote YES in order for the legislature to release the funds. The annuitants who will receive these funds have not had ANY increase in 20+ years.
Please spread the word to all your family and friends. Tell them to VOTE YES for Prop 9!!! Retired teachers deserve this Cost-of-living adjustment!!!

On Tuesday morning, Region 20 ATPE Director Laura Herrera—a prekindergarten teacher in North East ISD—provided the teacher perspective during the "Where Do Public Schools Go from Here?" panel presented by the Texas Tribune. Laura, who is an alumna of both the Leadership ATPE program and the Teach Plus Texas policy fellowship, tackled topics including the significant need for a teacher pay raise and educator concerns with a prescribed curriculum. The panel also included Sen. Brandon Creighton, chair of the Senate Education Committee; Dr. Stephanie Elizalde, superintendent of Dallas ISD; and Laura Colangelo, executive director of the Texas Private Schools Association. You may watch the panel at, and look for a recap later this week on ATPE's Way to use your teacher voice, Laura!
