Conroe Family Medicine Residency Program

Conroe Family Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to teaching the full spectrum of family medicine and procedural skills.

The Conroe Family Medicine Residency Program was formed in 1979 as the Montgomery County Medical Education Foundation by a group of physicians who were interested in developing and establishing a Family Medicine residency program in Montgomery County. Our first three residents graduated in June 1985. Affiliated with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston from 1983-1994 and with the University of Texas Medical Branch from 1994-2000, the program is now sponsored by Conroe Medical Education Foundation and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and by the American Osteopathic Association. The program has been very successful, and of note our program was reviewed by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in 2011 and by the AOA in 2012 and was awarded the status of continued full accreditation for five years by both organizations. This, along with our outstanding pass rate on the Board Certification Examination offered by the American Board of Family Medicine, is an outstanding statement about the quality of training our residents receive.

Mission: Our educational mission is: - To train family physicians who will pursue excellence in providing compassionate patient care; - To train well-qualified family physicians, thus increasing the supply of practitioners available to meet the health care needs in Texas and the United States in urban, suburban and rural locations, including successfully caring for the underserved; - To provide the medical student with role models so as to encourage interest in family medicine; - To stimulate intellectual pursuit and research by faculty, residents and family physicians in practice; - To provide continuing medical education for the graduates of this program and other physicians in private practice.

Announcing the Class of 2022!

Congrats to the new Co-Chiefs. They will begin their tenure in April!

CAN YOU HELP? Showing kids how important a healthy lifestyle is can change their future.

Yesterday, Doctors Slauter and Mogri helped out with Lone Star Family Health Center's Community Centered Health Home Project, led by Faculty member Pamela Ferry, by walking with elementary students for their Walk Across Texas challenge.

The students responded amazingly well, pushing themselves to run or walk farther than they normally would have. Their PE Coach was surprised at the extra effort they put out for their walking partners.

Send us a message if you want to walk with them any day, or join in on one of our evening or weekend school events.

6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and anonymous means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications.

National Voter Registration Day

It's National Voter Registration Day!

Voting can affect your health... rules about insurance coverage, Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP and CHIP are all up for discussion right now and could be decided or affected this voting cycle. Plus, the funding for your very own, favorite Health Center (US!) is determined by your elected officials. If you are eligible to vote, please be sure you are registered. On Sept. 25, we celebrate democracy across the nation! It's National Voter Registration Day!

Tonight Lone Star Family Health Center's Outreach Staff was overbooked with events, so Dr. Collazo stepped up to help and attended an Open House event at Creighton Elementary. Thanks to her for showing up, and to her fellow Residents for covering for her so that she could meet with patients. You all make us proud of the doctors our program trains!

We love this post from Creative Child Magazine. Dr. Porter, our Medical Director, is a big advocate of outdoor time and play. Getting kids away from screen time and outdoors encourages creativity and reduces stress!

Check out our summer newsletter - we've been busy!

Our Story

The Conroe Family Medicine Residency Program was originally founded in 1979 as the “Montgomery County Medical Education Foundation” by a team of physicians who set out to establish a Family Medicine residency program in the local area. Our first three residents graduated in June 1985.

We partnered with the University of Texas Health Science Center from 1983-1994, and with the University of Texas Medical Branch from 1994-2000. Today, our residency program is sponsored by Conroe Medical Education Foundation and is fully accredited with commendation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

The commitment of our faculty and resident physicians combined with our high quality training resulted in our graduates achieving a 100% pass rate on Board Certification Examination offered by the American Board of Family Medicine.
