A Kona Ice Truck will be on our campus during recess for students to purchase a shaved ice treat. The shaved ice treat is $3.00. The best part of having Kona Ice Days is the school will get a percentage of the profits to spend on supplies and materials.
The STAAR test will be given on Tuesday, May 10th for math and Wednesday, May 11th for reading. Our third and fourth graders have been working hard to ensure they are prepared for the test. We know all students will do their very best on test days.
Since the use of cell phones during testing is not permitted, we ask that students not bring cell phones or electronic devices to school the days of the test. If students have cell phones, they will be collected and placed in a secure location until the end of the day.
During lunch, students must remain together as a group and be closely monitored to ensure that they do not discuss the contents of the test. Only trained test administrators who have signed an oath will be allowed in the cafeteria on test day.
Please see that your child receives a good night’s sleep and eats a nutritious breakfast to assure his/her best performance. Comfortable clothing is recommended, including a light jacket or sweater if necessary. Students should bring a book to read if their class finishes the test early. Books cannot be read during the test.

School hours are from 8:00 AM - 3:10 PM. Morning Tutorials/ Enrichment (BEE Time) begins at 7:30 AM and pledges are recited promptly at 8:00 AM. Announcements are at 3:00 PM and dismissal procedures begin at 3:10 PM.
Students should arrive at school between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM. Students arriving after 8:05 AM are considered tardy. Supervision is not available before 7:30 AM or after 3:30 PM. Students eat breakfast at school from 7:30 AM-8:05 AM. Students must arrive no later than 8:00 AM to enter the cafeteria to receive breakfast. Please arrange your schedule so that your child arrives and departs in a timely manner.
No one should be parking in the front parking lot or the bus/fire zone and walking up to drop off their child(ren) before 8:05 am. Parents must utilize the car rider line before 8:05 am. Car riders who enter the building through the front doors (without conducting school business) will be considered tardy and receive a tardy slip. After 8:05 am, a parent must accompany their child into the building to electronically check in their child. Parents may not park in the fire/bus zone at any time or allow a student to walk across the parking lot or into the school building unsupervised.

BUILDING SECURITY
The safety of all children at Reaves Elementary is our number one priority. In order to provide a safe environment for all children, the following security measures will be in place.
All doors to the school will be locked throughout the day. All visitors must enter through the main entrance. You must sign in and out at the front office. Our school has acquired a system to help protect your children. The system, Raptor, helps track visitors, students, faculty, and volunteers at our school, thus providing a safer more monitored environment for the students.
When visitors, volunteers, or parents come to the campus, they will be asked to present a valid state issued ID for entering into the system. The system has the ability to provide alerts on people who may jeopardize the safety of the campus. We ask for your cooperation in presenting your valid Texas ID when checking in at the school.
In addition to identification, you must be listed on the child’s emergency contacts to take a child from campus. Anyone picking up a child that is not listed on the child’s emergency contacts should have a note signed by the child’s parent/guardian giving them permission to do so. Please make sure that all information for the emergency contacts is correct. If you need to make changes, please see our receptionist/registrar for assistance or contact the front office.
All visitors must wear a visitor’s badge while in the building. The visitor’s badge should designate the date and the purpose for the visit. The visitor's badge needs to be returned to the receptionist to document that you have exited the building.
For your child’s protection, parents and visitors are not allowed to go directly to their child’s classroom to pick them up during or at the end of the day. All check-out is through the front office.
Parent Access Center (PAC) is a free program available to all CISD parent/guardians that allows viewing of helpful information regarding student attendance, report cards, progress reports, standardized test results, and discipline. To access this service, parents must have a valid e-mail address. All parents are strongly encouraged to sign up for PAC by visiting the District’s website at Resources for Parents (link below).

CHANGES IN TRANSPORTATION
Anytime a student’s designated transportation is to be different, the parent must write a note or email informing the teacher/school of the change. Transportation changes will no longer be accepted by phone. If you contact the front office by phone, you will be asked to send an email verification of the change in transportation. If written notification is not received by 2:30 pm, your child must ride his/her normal mode of transportation.
In order to finalize dismissal procedures and alleviate confusion, we cannot release your child between 2:30-3:30 as it is an interruption to instruction and/or the flow of dismissal. Students leaving early from school must be picked up prior to 2:30 pm. After this time, your child must ride his/her normal mode of transportation.
Parents are required by Texas Compulsory Attendance Law to ensure their child(ren) are in school the full day of instruction (8:00 a.m.-3:10 p.m.) every day of the school year. Picking up your child regularly before 2:30 p.m. for appointments or to avoid the car rider line will result in a violation of the Compulsory Attendance Law.

The Backpack Food Program
The Weekend Food Program is a partnership between the Montgomery County Food Bank and your child's school. Each Friday, your child will bring home a pre-packaged bag of healthy and nutritious food provided by the Montgomery County Food Bank. The food is free of charge and delivered to your child at school by the counselor. The school will provide the food in a discreet manner.
If you would like your child to take part in the Weekend Food Program for the 2023-2024 school year, you will need to contact the school counselor, Mrs. Bernu, to complete and sign a form.

Pre-K Eligibility - Free & Reduced Meal Application
TEA has clarified that taking a student's medicaid card for PK eligibility is not sufficient and we must provide additional documentation of other qualifiers, which would likely be free and reduced lunch.
Students enrolled in Conroe ISD PreK do not automatically receive free meals for breakfast or lunch. Parents must complete an online free and reduced meal application as soon as possible to prevent charges for meals. Applications may take ten days to be processed. No social security number is needed to apply.
Apply via phone, tablet, or computer at https://www.myschoolapps.com/ or a paper application can be picked up from the campus or at the Child Nutrition office.

Attendance
Attendance is officially recorded at 9:00 am each day. Afternoon PPCD (3 year olds) attendance is recorded at 1:00 pm. If a student arrives after attendance is recorded, he/she is counted absent for the day.
A child enrolled in PK-4th is subject to compulsory attendance laws and policies. Your child must be in attendance a minimum of 90% of the school year. This means a child is allowed no more than 10 absences within a six-month period per school year. Should a student develop a questionable pattern of absences, the principal will require a statement from a doctor or health care provider verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s absence from school. The penalties for excessive absences are that your child(ren) may face disciplinary action in the school (Behavior Improvement Plan) for truant conduct and/or a referral to truancy court. Texas Education Agency requires that students who are absent 10 or more days within a six-month period per school year be reported. A court of law may impose penalties against the parent if a school-aged student is deliberately not attending school.
