It's really not the table. It's what starts happening when the same people keep showing up around it.

It's easy to have a lot of people around you and still be figuring most of it out by yourself.

That's what stood out when we asked Kirk Wright, CEO of Buildian Construction Services Inc. , what's had the biggest impact on him since joining Level Up + Live.

Zero hesitation 🏃‍♂️ he went straight to the roundtable.

6️⃣ to 8️⃣ people spending eight weeks together. Long enough to get past the surface-level business conversations and actually know what each other is working through.

And Kirk kept coming back to the same kind of language that is common in this room, “How can I help?”

But the power of wisdom also gives us, “I've been through that.”, “Here's something that helped me.”

And if something needs more than a Friday morning conversation, we'll connect outside the room.

That's a very different relationship than simply knowing other business owners.

Sometimes you need somebody who's already been through the problem you're staring at. Sometimes you need another perspective. And sometimes you need people close enough to notice when you're falling short before you've talked yourself into believing everything is fine.

We think success will make life simpler.

When the business grows, we’ll have more freedom.

When the team gets bigger, we’ll have more time.

When we hit the next revenue goal, things will finally slow down.

But what if growth actually creates more responsibility, more decisions, more opportunities, and more demands on your time?

Growth without boundaries doesn’t create freedom.

Every YES has a price.

Another meeting.
Another opportunity.
Another commitment.
Another hour at the gym.

The time doesn’t magically appear.

It comes from somewhere else.

And that’s the dangerous part: good opportunities can still steal from great priorities.

Instead of asking,

“Can I fit this into my schedule?”

start asking:

“What will this actually cost me if I say yes?”

Because being busy isn’t the same as being productive—and saying yes to everything can mean saying no to what matters most.

This quote hit deep this morning, “Sometimes leadership means going back.”

And caught us this morning with pause.

See, most business owners are wired toward what’s next. The next client. The next hire. The next problem. The next opportunity. Just get through this one and keep moving, because progress is moving forward, right?

Well, Sarah Kuba walked us through something interesting in Acts 14 this morning that raised everybody’s eyebrows.

Paul and Barnabas had already preached in Lystra, Iconium and Antioch. Those weren’t exactly comfortable places to revisit. Matter of fact, Paul had literally been stoned in Lystra.

So, not exactly the most welcoming of cities for Christians.

And yet, in the face of all that, they went back.

But not because there was something new waiting for them there.

There were simply people there who still needed them.

Good people who needed encouragement. Teaching. Someone willing to stay involved long enough to help strengthen their faith and hope.

Sarah brought that story right into the way we lead people today.

See, we have this ability to be so focused on moving the business forward that we forget somebody behind us may still be struggling with something we thought we’d already handled.

An employee having a hard season.
Someone we trained but haven’t checked on.

A person who’s technically doing the job but could probably use fifteen minutes where we’re not asking them for anything, but simply meeting them where they are.

Sarah’s challenge to us this week was simple yet anchored in heart: find one person on your team who’s having a difficult time and spend 15 intentional minutes with them.

Not another meeting. Just be there.

Because truthfully, sometimes the person you’re supposed to lead next isn’t ahead of you. They’re actually someone worth going back for.

A lot of people know what you do. Far fewer actually know YOU.

And really, that's an interesting distinction when you own a business or lead people.

Because most relationships start with the obvious stuff. What do you do? How's business?
How many employees do you have? What are you working on lately?

Well, we asked Kirk Wright, owner of Buildian Construction Services Inc. , why, with all the networking groups available and very little extra time in his week, he keeps showing up at Level Up + Live every Friday.

His answer wasn't really about networking at all.

It was about having enough time with the same people to eventually get past the business.

You learn about their faith. Their family. What they're carrying. Why they're building what they're building. Who they are as a father, mother, husband, wife or leader when nobody's talking about revenue, EBITA, KPI's or HR.

Funny thing happens each week, eventually all of those people stop feeling like contacts.

They're just your people. The kind of people you simply just enjoy being around because they naturally get you, without any explanation.

That's harder to put on a list of “membership benefits,” but it's probably a big part of why Kirk keeps protecting those two hours.

Some of the things you have today are things you once prayed for.

Your family.
Your marriage.
Your business.
Your health.
Your opportunities.
Your home.

But sometimes we become so focused on reaching the next level that we forget to appreciate the level we're already standing on.

Gratitude doesn't mean you stop growing. It means you can pursue more without overlooking what you already have.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a present from God.

Keep leveling up—but don't forget to be grateful along the way.

Before anyone else believes in your vision, you have to believe in it first.

There will be seasons when the evidence in front of you doesn’t match the vision in your head.

That doesn’t always mean you’re on the wrong path—it may mean you’re being challenged to believe before you can see.

Belief isn’t pretending everything will work out exactly how you planned.

It’s knowing that regardless of the circumstances, you’re capable of figuring out what comes next.

You have to believe it before you can achieve it.

That’s a key ingredient.

A lot of leadership decisions aren’t about whether you can do something. They’re about whether you should.

Bryan Rennell led us through the first week of a new nine-week Bible study on leadership this morning, starting with character and integrity.

Not charisma. Not title. Not how confident you sound in the room.

Can you be trusted with what’s been handed to you?
Will you take ownership when something needs to be done?

Can you make a decision based on what helps the people affected by it, not just what you’re technically allowed to do?

Do your actions back up what you say?

Those are harder questions, and if we’re being honest, probably better ones.

Because people may follow a title for a while. Respect is completely different.

That gets built slowly, usually in the decisions nobody applauds.

But where the greatest growth actually occurs.
