Information for our Pre-K Parents:
PreK open house is August 24th. Your child’s preschool teacher will contact you with information about what time you will need to be there. This will allow you a chance to fill out paperwork, tour the classroom, get to know your child’s teacher and become familiar with the school. PreK teachers will also be available to show parents where the PreK car rider line is located.

Items needed for PreK:
-extra change of clothes
-book bag
-small blanket/towel for rest time
-small stuffed animal for rest time
-water bottle with child’s name on it(only water allowed)

PreK does a staggered entry for the first 3 days. Your child will only attend 1 of the 3 days unless your child’s teacher has told you otherwise(Tuesday 8/25, Wednesday 8/26, Thursday 8/27) ALL PreK students will attend on Friday 8/28!
On 8/25, 8/26 and 8/27 you will walk your PreK child to the classroom at drop off. At pick up you will begin using the designated car rider line for PreK. Beginning on Friday, 8/28 PreK children will be dropped off and picked up using the PreK car rider area.

After an amazing lunch from Cerro Grande from Lyle Creek Elementary PTO we had another sweet treat from our community partners at Woodlawn Baptist! We finished the day with delicious drinks from Fruitful Tea! Thank you all so much for making our opening meeting day full of deliciousness!

Welcome back to Ms. Smith! She joined us in January last year and will be returning in 5th Math.

"My name is Rylee Smith, and I am excited to be returning to Lyle Creek Elementary School to teach 5th grade math this year! I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I joined the LCES family midway through last school year and am thankful to be back for another year.

Outside of my time at school, I enjoy reading, going on walks with my dog, Bruno, spending time with friends and family, and going to concerts. I also own a small business where I create hand-painted banners for special events!

I strive to create a positive and welcoming classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to do their best. I can’t wait to continue building relationships with students, families, and staff and make this a great year!"

Welcome back Mrs. Teck! Mrs. Teck served as a TA in our General Communications classroom, but will be moving into our Dual Language Program as a TA for the upcoming school year. She will primarily be working with the 1st and 2nd Grade DLI classes.

"Hello, my name is Mrs. Leanie Teck. I have an Associate Degree in Primary Education and I am a licensed teacher from Belize with 10 years of teaching experience in kindergarten through Grade 6, including supporting students with special educational needs. I am also bilingual in English and Spanish.

I am excited to be returning to Lyle Creek Elementary School for my second year. I am passionate about education and dedicated to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I truly enjoy helping children understand new concepts and reach their full potential. I look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and contribute positively to the Lyle Creek Elementary community this year."

Welcome Mrs. Richards to Lyle Creek! She will be teaching 4th Grade ELA this upcoming school year.

"Hi everyone! My name is Mikayla Richards and I am so excited to be joining Lyle Creek as the 4th grade ELA teacher!! I went through Catawba County Schools as a student and so I am super excited to be returning to teach in the county that inspired me to be a teacher.

I graduated from Western Carolina University in May and will be starting my first year of teaching, which I am very excited for. I also just got married this spring, which has been a fun and new chapter of my life! I love hiking, camping, reading, Star Wars, iced coffee, and spending time with family and friends.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and becoming part of the Lyle Creek family. I can't wait to see what's in store for this school year and start this wonderful new chapter in my teaching career!"
