🏈 Calling All GHES Football Players! 🏈

Football sign-ups will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 5:30–6:30 p.m.

📅 Practices may begin the week of August 17.

The rec will also have a table for sign-ups during Meet Your Teacher Night on August 20.

Dear GHES Families,

Due to the potential for severe weather this afternoon and evening, we have made the decision to cancel today's Sweet Treats with the Principal event.

We were excited to spend time with our students and families, but your safety is our highest priority. We want to make sure everyone stays safe by avoiding unnecessary travel and being prepared for any severe weather that may develop.

The good news? The treats can wait—your safety can't! 😊 We'll be looking for another opportunity to get together soon and enjoy some sweet treats with our amazing GHES families.

🚌 Bus Transportation Information for the 2026-2027 School Year 🚌
To ensure we have accurate transportation information ready for Open House, please complete the Bus Transportation Form using the link below if any of the following apply:
✅ Your child will be a new bus rider next school year
✅ Your family has moved to a new address
✅ Your child is a rising Kindergartner attending GHES

❌ You do NOT need to complete the form if your child rode a GHES bus this school year and there have been no changes to transportation information.

Completing this form will help us provide the correct bus number, pickup location, and drop-off information at Open House.

We are excited to welcome our George Hildebrand Elementary families back for Meet the Teacher Night!

🚍 WANTED: Bus Drivers… Before We Have to Teach the Kids to Flap Their Wings! 🦅😂

Our students will be ready to learn. Their backpacks will be packed. Their teachers will be caffeinated.

Now we just need someone to get them here!

If you or someone you know has ever thought, “You know what my life is missing? A bus full of adorable elementary kids excited to tell me every detail about their pet goldfish,” then this could be your calling!

Benefits include:
🍎 Being greeted like a superstar every morning.
😂 Hearing jokes that somehow get funnier the 47th time.
❤️ Knowing you’re making a difference in a child’s day before they even step into the classroom.
🚌 Earning the title of “Favorite Bus Driver Ever!”

In all seriousness, our school needs bus drivers, and we’d love to have you on our team. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, please reach out. Our students are counting on you—and we’d really rather not have to carpool them on scooters!

The next BCPS bus driving class is August 3-5 starting at 8:30 a.m. each day. Classes are held at Central Office, 700 E. Parker Rd in Morganton. Call the bus garage at 828-437-4770 to sign up. This is the last bus class before the upcoming school year, so sign up now if you're interested.

It's never too early to start preparing for a great school year! 🎒 The 2026-2027 school supply lists are now available.

📌 Please see the attached supply lists for your child's grade level and begin gathering items as you are able. Many stores offer school supply sales throughout the summer, making this a great time to stock up on supplies.

At George Hildebrand Elementary, we are excited to begin another year of learning, growth, and success. Thank you for helping ensure our students are prepared and ready to learn on the first day of school!

Greetings George Hildebrand Family!

Please allow me to introduce myself and share my excitement to serve as the principal of George Hildebrand Elementary School.
I have been an educator with BCPS for 19 years, and through my experiences, I have developed a passion for finding ways for all students to learn and experience success.
I believe in supporting students through a nurturing school environment, creating a school culture that accentuates the positives, and partnering with our school community. I am looking forward to meeting each of you as we begin a great school year together!
