Enjoy Thanksgiving Break!
8/18/21
Power is on at the Spring Valley campus.
School is open today.
8/4/21
Dear Golden Feather families:
As we prepare to return from the summer break, we are excited to welcome students back on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. We are now providing morning supervision that starts at 7:15 am, and families may sign up for our after school program that ends at 6:00 pm.
Come meet our teachers, see the classroom, and enjoy our BBQ Back-to-School Night event on Monday, August 16th, from 5-7:00 pm at the Spring Valley campus.
GFUESD is dedicated to promoting a safe, calm, and welcoming environment for our students and staff. Since October 19, 2020, Golden Feather UESD has been offering a full-day full-week in-person schedule. Parents and guardians of enrolled students have the option to enroll their child for in-person instruction or independent study for 2021-2022.
Masks/Face Coverings
At this time, masks will only be required when students are indoors. This complies with the requirements established by the Center for Disease Control and the California Department of Public Health. The district would like there to be more local control on this matter. We will monitor the situation closely and keep you informed. We know the requirements for schools can (and do) change and if the guidance changes, so will GFUESD.
We are realistic. There will be times when students take mask breaks throughout the day. The Golden Feather Union Elementary School District will continue to deploy COVID-19 prevention measures and encourage everyone to continue to take public health precautions.
Transportation
The district will transport students to school. We will have three centrally located collection points where district vans will collect students. The transportation department will be calling you at home before school starts to confirm the closest collection point to your home and the morning pick-up time.
The district would like to offer more transportation services to families including an afternoon drop-off. This has not been possible due to a national and local labor shortage. We have open positions for vehicle/bus drivers without applicants. If you know of anyone that has a good driving record and has an interest in transporting students, please refer them to edjoin.org to apply or call the school.
Independent Study
Parents and guardians have the right to request a pupil-parent-educator conference to ask questions before making the decision about enrollment or disenrollment in the various options for learning. The conference may be conducted by telephone, videoconference, or in-person. If you wish to request a conference for your pupil, please contact us at 530.533.3467 or e-mail our school secretary - Lynnette Mack - [email protected]. If you are considering independent study, please let us know by 3:00 pm on August 9, 2021, so that we can plan for the new school year.
Procedures for Enrolling, Disenrolling, and Reenrolling in Independent Study
To enroll in independent study for the 2021-2022 school year, there must be an agreement in place for each pupil. The agreement must be signed by the pupilโs parent, legal guardian, or caregiver. For students with exceptional needs, the pupilโs individualized education program (IEP) must specifically provide for independent study before the pupil can begin participating.
If you wish to have your pupil return to in-person instruction during the school year, you may provide notice to the contact information provided below, and your pupil will be returned to in-person instruction no later than five instructional days after we receive the notice.
Students may reenroll in independent study at any time during the 2021-2022 school year by providing notice as provided below.
Instructional Time that a Pupil Will Have Access to as Part of Independent Study
For transitional kindergarten through 3rd grade, there will be a plan to provide students opportunities for daily synchronous instruction.
For grades 4 through 8, there will be a plan to provide opportunities for both daily live interaction and at least weekly synchronous instruction.
Live interaction means interaction between the pupil and the teacher, aide or other personnel and may include peers; this interaction may be in person, by internet or phone.
Synchronous instruction means classroom-style instruction, or small group, or one-on-one instruction delivered in person or by internet or phone and involving two-way communication between the pupil and teacher.
If you are interested in independent study for your pupil or pupils, or wish to schedule a conference with staff, please contact us at the phone number or e-mail address below:

The North Valley Community Foundation approved a grant submitted by Golden Feather UESD to provide "relief for families transporting students to Concow School at Spring Valley."
Golden Feather UESD and the Yankee Hill Fire Safe Council have partnered to provide families of students enrolled at Spring Valley with gas vouchers for Canyon Lakes Market. The vouchers can also be used for propane and food as well.
Families will receive a phone call regarding the voucher program and how it works.
"We appreciate all of our families - it has been a difficult year. We hope this voucher program will help."
The Golden Feather mission to remain open for in-person instruction full-week full-days for all students was adopted to mitigate student learning loss from the Camp Fire and COVID closures.
"We would like to thank the generous donors who made this program possible. A HUGE thank you to North Valley Community Foundation and the Yankee Hill Fire Safe Council. Without you both, we would not have been able to get this off the ground."

Hi everyone,
You will hear that we will be on a stay-at-home order starting Friday. This is due to the hospital capacity in the region falling below the 15% threshold.
This order will not affect our campus. Our in-person instruction system meets CDC, state, and county guidelines. We will continue operating in-person instruction with strict adherence to our reopening plan.
Should you have additional questions โ feel free to reach out.
