All week, you’ve been seeing posts from our chapter Reporter, Brooke Maxie. And while she has done an absolutely fantastic job, I figured it was finally my turn to get on here…
In this picture, you see 15 students. Fifteen students with different goals, ambitions, personalities, and skill levels. But the one thing every single one of them has in common is their passion for this industry and this organization.
Each of these kids wants to do better, not just for themselves, but for their team. They want to see each other succeed, celebrate each other’s wins, and never miss an opportunity to lend a helping hand to a fellow showman. They are strong, level-headed, hardworking, and determined to be the best they can be. And as their ag teacher, there’s not much that makes me prouder than watching them grow into the kind of people who genuinely want to see those around them succeed, too.
Now, don’t let all that sweet talk fool you. This crew can be a little goofy. They know how to have a good time, make memories, and make the most of the time they have together. They understand that when it’s time to work, it’s time to work, but when it’s time to play, it’s TIME TO PLAY. And honestly, I hope they never lose that part of themselves. This industry will teach you plenty of hard lessons, but it also gives you some of the best memories, biggest laughs, and friendships you’ll ever have. I hope they always remember to enjoy the ride along the way.
This is the biggest show team we’ve ever had. And while 15 may sound like a lot of kids to keep up with (and trust me, some days it is), at the end of the day, they make up ONE team. A team that works together, roots for one another, picks each other up, and makes me incredibly proud to be the one standing in their corner.
I’ve watched these kids work hard, grow, learn, and make memories this season, and I couldn’t be prouder of the team they’ve become. They may not all be the same, but that’s what makes this group so special.
Now, let’s finish out this amazing show season with an even better State Fair! You’ve worked hard, you’ve earned it, and you deserve every bit of it.
Proud is an understatement.
