From two foxes playing in a London park to a lost work by the author of “The Wizard of Oz,” artist Lane Letourneau ’17 finds inspiration everywhere she looks.

A story artist, illustrator, and animator, Letourneau is wrapping up a four-year project adapting an unpublished 1902 L. Frank Baum book into a young adult graphic novel, and is headed to USC's School of Cinematic Arts to pursue her dream of directing animated and live-action films. It all started in the SPS art studios, where she first fell in love with traditional mediums.

The wins are stacking up this fall for Big Red Athletics!

From a perfect start for our field hockey teams to multiple 3-0 wins on the volleyball court, a statement 28-3 season opener on the gridiron, and first-place finishes for our harriers at the Lakes Region and Northfield Mount Hermon cross country meets, our teams are full speed ahead into October. Nearly 150 years after St. Paul's School built the country’s first squash courts, construction is beginning on the new SPS Squash Center!

Last Friday, students, trustees, School leaders, and project partners gathered at the Athletic & Fitness Center to celebrate the start of this new chapter for our squash program. The 17,000-square-foot donor-funded facility will feature eight international singles courts and two glass exhibition courts that mirror PSA World Tour standards, positioning SPS to host regional and national tournaments and continue our legacy as a leader in a sport bound for the Olympic stage in 2028. Most of all, it's a space for the more than 90 students in our program today, other community members eager to pick up a squash racquet for the first time, and the generations that will follow them here in Millville.

When Catherine Burnett '89 took a year off from her New York marketing career, a one-week stint of volunteering at a wildlife conservancy in Kenya turned into two years, and a new direction for her life.

​Along the way, she learned Swahili and became the first woman licensed as a professional safari guide in Kenya. In the decades since, Burnett has devoted her career to impact investing and philanthropy, helping families and foundations align their wealth with social and environmental good, and more recently to teaching English to refugees and immigrants.

The events of September 11, 2001, left a mark that endures a quarter-century later. Even now, hardly anyone, regardless of age, is untouched by the direct or indirect repercussions of the day and its aftermath.

Within the St. Paul's School sphere, alumni and families have their own stories and memories of the day. Fifteen years have passed since Alumni Horae published the stories of three alumni with distinct relationships to Sept. 11, and a fourth honoring Lindsay Morehouse '96, who was working on the 89th floor of the World Trade Center's South Tower and did not survive. As we mark the day here on the grounds with prayers and the ringing of the Old Chapel bells, we also share these stories again to remember 9/11 and all whose lives were changed forever on that tragic Tuesday 25 years ago.
