MDUSD is pleased to announce the appointment of Sheila McCumber as the Principal of Sun Terrace Elementary School in Concord.
Sheila is an experienced and strategic school leader with a deep commitment to student-centered systems. Her focus is on building sustainable structures that support academic rigor, social-emotional growth, and authentic collaboration among staff, students, and families. Sheila earned her B.A. in French from Central Michigan University and her M.A. in Educational Administration from California State University Northridge. She has worked as a District Teacher Leader, a vice principal at Ygnacio Valley HS in 2021-22, and as an assistant principal in a nearby school district.
Outside of work, Sheila enjoys hiking, running, and spending time with her family and pets. She believes it is important to bring creativity into both her personal life and professional practice. She is always looking for thoughtful ways to make school feel welcoming and connected.
