What do you notice in these photos?
Smiles? Joy? Curiosity?
That’s what networking can be.
Last week, students connected with alumni and friends of the College in healthcare before the Fall Research Symposium and the result was a room full of conversations, questions, and connection.
Networking can sometimes feel like a big, scary, unknown, awkward event. But we encourage you to change the way you think about it.
The alumni and employers you’re meeting (especially when they’re here on campus) are excited to meet you. They’re here because they want to get to know students, share their experiences, and offer what they can.
So don’t overthink it. Introduce yourself. Shake their hand. Make eye contact. Ask a question. Be curious.
And remember, they’re people too! Just people who were once in your shoes and are now here to share what they know.
Networking doesn’t have to be intimidating. Sometimes, it’s simply two people starting a conversation.
