I had the opportunity to attend a resource fair today for Deaf/HH families here in NH and connect with some incredible parents and professionals.

Events like this are such a powerful reminder that no family should have to navigate special education alone.

Whether you’re early in the process or feeling stuck in it, there are supports and strategies that can make a meaningful difference.

I’m so grateful for the conversations today and the connections made 🤍

If you’re navigating IEPs, eligibility, evaluations, and need advocacy support, feel free to reach out anytime.

🛑 and think before you sign that consent! When it comes to IEP eligibility evaluations or re-evaluations it’s important to understand what areas of disability are being evaluated- and to be sure the areas you are concerned about are covered in the testing. If you’re unsure what the school is proposing and need an advocate to guide you through the special education process, reach out to Summit Advocacy & Coaching.

If you’ve been wondering whether your child’s IEP is actually working…
here are 5 red flags every parent should know 👇

1️⃣ Minimal or no progress on goals
If goals stay the same year after year with no real progress, that’s not “steady growth.” That’s a problem.

2️⃣ Increasing behavior challenges
Behavior is communication. When behavior escalates, it often means the supports don’t match your child’s needs.

3️⃣ Services aren’t being delivered consistently
When minutes are missed, changed, or quietly reduced, your child is losing access to FAPE.

4️⃣ Accommodations aren’t being followed
If accommodations exist on paper but not in the classroom, that’s a compliance issue.

5️⃣ Your child dreads school… or you do
That’s your gut talking — and it’s usually right.

✨There are a few things every parent deserves to know before walking into an IEP meeting.

• You are not required to decide in the meeting. You can pause, review, and think things through.
• Verbal explanations fade. Written data and documentation create clarity and protection.
• Preparation changes the entire dynamic. When you’re calm and informed, the tone of the meeting shifts.

IEP meetings don’t have to feel rushed, confusing, or overwhelming.
And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Save this for your next meeting.

✨What does an educational advocate do?

I support families navigating special education by reviewing IEPs and 504 plans, helping parents prepare for meetings, explaining special education rights, and building long-term advocacy strategies — not just reacting in crisis moments.

I also understand this work on a personal level, which informs how I support families with clarity, empathy, and strategy — without adding to the overwhelm.

If you’re looking for IEP support, meeting preparation, or guidance through special education decisions, I offer individualized advocacy and parent coaching.

✨ Hi, I’m Michelle — an educational advocate and special-needs parent who helps families move toward clearer plans and better outcomes in special education.

I support parents who feel overwhelmed, unheard, or unsure how to navigate the IEP process — especially when the stakes are high and emotions are real.

Through both my professional work and my own family’s journey, I’ve spent years advocating, preparing families for meetings, clarifying options, and helping teams slow down and refocus on what actually matters: the student.

And I’ve seen how the right preparation and support can completely change the direction of a plan.

Whether you’re just starting out, stuck in a cycle of meetings that go nowhere, or trying to figure out your next move — you don’t have to do this alone.

This space is for:
📌 clear guidance
📌 practical tools
📌 honest conversations
📌 and support that actually helps

🤍 If you’re feeling stuck, unsure what to do next, or need a clearer plan, send me a DM or visit my website to learn how I can support you.
