The SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION was incorporated on January 17, 1890 in Connecticut and later chartered by the United States Congress on June 9, 1906. These were led by the Sons of Revolutionary Sires, organized July 4, 1876 in San Francisco. The first Congress of the National Society was held in Louisville, Kentucky on April 30, 1889 at the 100th anniversary of George Washington’s taking of t
he oath of office of President of the United States. OLD MIDDLESEX is a vibrant and active chapter in the MASSACHUSETTS SOCIETY, Sons of the American Revolution. Chartered in 1896, we are the oldest chapter in the Society. The objects of the chapter are to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men who achieved American Independence. We do this by promoting PATRIOTISM, HISTORY and EDUCATION in our community. Our chapter includes all the towns in Middlesex county, Massachusetts that the “embattled farmers” of 1775 called home, including Lexington and Concord and all the towns along Battle Road. Our current membership includes people living in Massachusetts, as well as 10 other states and Europe.
