IMAGE of Success, Inc. Instructional staff are not only the delivery system for high quality instruction and performance. It doesn’t have to be this way!

Often they are the front line soldiers for family recruitment and student retention. However, in this era of high-stakes testing and accountability the pressure to “perform” can quickly and silently sabotage itself through the loss of motivation, relationships and students bodies. Over and over it has been proven that students will perform more, and act up less when they have a caring relationship with their teachers. Additionally, families who are engaged in a performance-based relationship with their child’s school tend to stay longer, volunteer more and refer other families to enroll. Breakthrough Relationships philosophy and system is built on such research. It’s goal is to:

Help school build performance-based relationships between students and staff for increased performance, recruiting and retention. Schools who have given attention to a school wide system for building healthy Student-staff performance-based relationships don’t have to sacrifice their main goal of performance. On the contrary, when behavior and performance slows, regresses or breaks down it is the healthy performance-based relationship between that breaks through! Outcomes: Participants will learn proven, repeatable skills that help:

• Develop safe, trusting, self-managing classrooms

• Improve classroom attendance by building students' motivation and helping them take responsibility for their actions and performance

• Decrease delinquent behaviors such as disruptive outbursts, violent acts, drug use and other risky behavior

• Bring families into the school culture as advocates not adversaries

• Develop students' resilience and decrease overall resistance to staff

I’m excited to speak this **Friday, September 18** before the **Council of Academic Leadership (CAL)** and share how schools can move beyond simply *asking* for parent engagement and begin building systems that help **produce and measure it**. CAL brings together curriculum and instructional leaders to share innovative practices and solutions that benefit students across member districts.

I’ll be sharing the vision behind **Power Parenting U — The Parent RTI System** and one of the simplest ideas behind our work:

College is about more than earning a degree—it’s about developing the mindset to become who you were created to be. 🎓🔥
I’m honored to speak with students at Florida A&M University about the power of PURPOSE and GRIT.

💡 Purpose gives you a reason to keep moving.
💪🏾 Grit gives you the strength to keep going when the journey gets hard.
College students will face pressure, disappointment, distractions, setbacks, and moments when quitting feels easier than continuing. But Personal Success isn’t about avoiding trials—it’s about developing the mindset to push through them, learn from them, and keep moving toward your purpose.

My message is simple:
🎯 Know your PURPOSE.
🔥 Develop your GRIT.
🏆 Pursue your PERSONAL SUCCESS.

Because success isn’t just graduating—it’s becoming the person capable of maximizing your gifts, overcoming obstacles, and making an impact.

From the courage of Ruby Bridges marching into an integrated school in her crisp white dress and pristine white shoes, carrying her books with immense dignity, to modern lecture halls where pajamas and hair bonnets have become normalized, we have to ask ourselves: How far have we drifted from excellence? 📚✨

The iconic image of Ruby Bridges represents a generation that fought tooth and nail for the right to sit in the classroom, treating education as a hard-won privilege and stepping into institutions with pride, intention, and respect. Contrast that with the normalization of sleepwear in higher education—where the defense is often "I didn't have time" or a pushback against respectability politics in favor of comfort.

When we champion mediocrity and excuse a lack of preparation or professional presentation under the guise of casual convenience, we undermine the very legacy of sacrifice that opened these doors in the first place. This isn't just about clothing; it’s about a mindset. Excellence demands focus, discipline, and intentionality. Hats off to the HBCU presidents drawing a hard line and banning bonnets and pajamas to restore a culture of high standards, professional pride, and mutual respect in academic spaces. 🎓
It’s time to return to the standard of excellence. How we show up matters.

Life is a long journey, not a sprint, and our young men can't complete that marathon without refueling along the way 🛣️⛽.

Every setback, challenge, and closed door drains their motivational fuel. When we fail to teach them the vital principle of seeking out "motivational filling stations" to get reinspired and remotivated, the dangers are real: burnout, giving up too soon, and running on empty when life gets tough.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting lately on what it really means to prepare our children for the future. While we focus so much on skills and education, the single most important tool we can give our sons is the ability to make good decisions.

Whether it's in their career, their relationships, or their personal growth, the choices they make today are the foundation of the life they build tomorrow. Teaching them to think critically, act with integrity, and take ownership of their path isn't just about "good advice"—it's about empowering them to lead with confidence.

Proud of the young man he’s becoming and excited to see how he continues to navigate his journey with wisdom. Let’s keep raising leaders who think for themselves! 🚀✨🙌

🐾 Truly Man's Best Friend 🐾
There are dogs... and then there are family.
Today we celebrate the life of Joshua, affectionately known as "Big Eyes," our faithful companion who blessed our family from 2011 to July 11, 2026.
When we realized Caleb would be our only child, we wanted him to grow up with more than a pet—we wanted him to have a brother. Joshua became that brother. While he was Caleb's big brother and playmate, he quickly become my responsibility, quiet confidant, and loyal sidekick. Our bond was one of unconditional love that words can barely describe.

Joshua was also one of the easiest dogs I have ever trained. He seemed to understand not only commands but hearts. He wasn't just intelligent—he was incredibly intuitive. Somehow, he always knew exactly what you needed.

No matter how difficult my day had been, Joshua had a remarkable gift. He would quietly walk over, sit beside me, and look up with those unforgettable, oversized eyes. That's how he earned the nickname "Big Eyes." One look into those beautiful eyes could melt away stress, disappointment, and frustration. You couldn't help but smile. He reminded us that sometimes love doesn't need words—it just needs to show up.
Joshua taught us about loyalty without conditions, friendship without expectations, and love without limits. He never judged. He never complained. He simply loved.
While our hearts are heavy today, we smile knowing that somewhere in heaven, Joshua is greeting everyone the same way he greeted us—with those big eyes, a gentle spirit, and a heart full of unconditional love.

Run free, Big Eyes. Truly... Man's Best Friend. ❤️🐾

🚨 🚨IF YOU'RE EASILY OFFENDED KEEP SCROLLING 🚨 🚨
However, I may say something that will bless you. The tragic story of Nolan Wells out of Mississippi has a lot of families in deep reflection. An 18-year-old student goes to a barrier island with three friends. They return; he does not.

It opens up a heavy, necessary conversation about the space our young people occupy, especially when they are the minority in a majority environment.
When you navigate those spaces, you face a critical crossroad: Conformity vs. Assimilation.
There is a massive distinction between the two and understanding it is a matter of cultural survival.

• Conformity is situational compliance. It’s knowing how to speak the language of the room, follow the rules of the environment, and cooperate to achieve a goal—all while keeping your core identity completely intact. You adapt your branches, but your roots don't move.

• Assimilation is identity erasure. It happens when a young person swallows the dominant culture whole, trading away their own heritage, values, and instincts just to feel accepted. It’s the dangerous belief that "to fit in, I must become them."
When my son went to a majority-white Christian private school from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade, this was the exact blueprint we had to establish as a family. We had to teach him how to navigate different cultural experiences without losing a single piece of who he was.

Our family anchor was always this reminder:
"As you grow and go out into the world, like a tree, you must be rooted in your own belief system, your culture, and your purpose. Because any tree that is not rooted is very easily blown away when strong winds come—strong winds from friends, etc."
When a young man doesn't know his value or is not rooted, assimilation feels like the only shield. But when he is deeply rooted, he can stand in any room, on any boat, or in any environment, and remain entirely unmoved.

Teach them the difference. Keep them rooted.
