Flynn Fire Academy is a state-of-the-art training and educational facility dedicated to meeting the training needs of New Hampshire’s emergency responders. Located in Concord, the Academy provides a wide variety of training opportunities and facilities which include: two "burn buildings," classrooms, an auditorium, dormitory, fire station and an exercise room.

The curricula have been revised in consideration of the NFPA 1010.2024 and 1020.2025 standards and are now prepared for feedback. From September 4 to November 2, public feedback may be submitted through the website: https://www.fstems.dos.nh.gov/about-us/boards-commissions/public-feedback

Last call for the HazMat Ops class in September! Whether you're an on-my-time firefighter, missing the certification, or need a course refresher before you take the exam, the modular delivery of the Hazardous Materials Operations course will be at the Academy's Bethlehem campus. This course teaches the basic skills necessary to safely and effectively manage the on-scene operations involving the uncontrolled release of dangerous chemicals. Participants must have passed the Awareness certification and completed the PPE and fire hose modules to register:

The National Council for Mental Wellbeing is providing a free Mental Health First Aid course as an evidence-based, early-intervention program designed to teach participants how to identify signs of mental health and substance use issues, provide initial support, and connect individuals to professional help. Previously called Fire Inspector I, the First Responder Inspector course has been redone and adheres to the requirements of NFPA 1030. Students will learn the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to perform basic fire safety inspections, such as fire safety inspection principles, applications of codes and standards, conducting inspections, and recognizing and reporting fire hazards. This 5-week class will meet once a week with an exam on November 12.

Last call: Crisis Intervention Team Training is headed to the Seacoast! The grant-funded program is put on in collaboration with NAMI New Hampshire to help law enforcement and first responders recognize a mental health incident, de-escalate situations, and make appropriate mental health referrals to ensure the safety of individuals with mental health conditions, first responders and the general public. This 40-hour course highlights common mental health conditions and their signs, best practices for intervention, and processes to serve people affected by mental health conditions with respect and dignity. Last call for feedback on the updated IFT/PIFT curriculum! Over the last year, we have been reviewing the curriculum to implement changes that modernize interfacility transfer education, and we are asking the wider EMS community for feedback. Changes include a newly created IFT curriculum (non-mandatory) and a new competency-based framework for PIFT, among other updates.
