I came to Elite by myself today to soak in the last bit of my memories that I’ve had for 21 years!
Today…6/5…
6/5- my 27 year anniversary with Andy Ray Hilton
6/5- my first official day of my education retirement
6/2025- the 21st year of owning Elite Preschool

As I walked from class to class and cried in each with the memories made I’m so appreciative of the staff, the students, the noise, the learning, the laughter, the crying…

I won’t miss handling problems (there are many but don’t want to focus on these today)…I want to focus on bringing my daughter here at 3 years old, starting my son here at 1.5, Andy starting here in 2015, working with my brother here, holding hands at the front door with my family before the first kid walked in praying for protection and success, writing Bible versus on the gym floor before the mats got delivered, hugging many staff members in my office who needed a hug, hugging many parents going thru rough times, hugging grandparents going thru rough times, holding many many kids who were scared coming to school away from mommy and daddy for the first time, cleaning throw up and nose bleeds in my office…there’s so many memories!

If you have a dream…go for it! It may work out…it may not…but the people you meet and impact on the way is priceless! Follow your dream!

Happy 27th anniversary Andy and happy 1st day of our educational retirement …I will not miss the stressful times (one day I may share what it was like being a business owner) but I will miss the relationships formed, the laughter, the excitement of the first day of school, the random hugs I received during the school day….I can’t even start to process what my next stage in life will feel like but I want to enjoy every minute…we never know how much time we have on this earth but I want to breath and take in every moment I have with my husband, my kids and my parents!

Thank you to everyone who chose my school over the past 21 years!❤️ Peace out to my past 21 years at Elite ❤️

I woke up around 4am excited, but anxious about my last day of my 21 years of owning Elite Preschool. Many emotions are running thru my head…January 2005 God spoke to me loud and clear to open up a school at my brother’s gym. We just had Aaron and living pay check to pay check. I told Andy Ray Hilton that God spoke to me clearly and I prayed about it for 3 days/nights with no sleep to make sure I heard clearly! Andy wasn’t very happy with the decision as I was loosing my full time salary starting June 2005. I started out making about $25 a month!!! I remember clearly in my head taking walks with Andy and pushing two strollers trying to figure out how to pay bills, deciding if we needed to sell our 2 year old home because we didn’t know if we could afford it, etc….God provided!!! Every bill some how got paid! I took the leap of faith just as we are now…ending my almost 30 year journey in education…21 years of it owning Elite Preschool! Owning a business is tough…trying to make everyone happy, staying organized, handling small problems, handling big problems that caused many tears and panic attacks and health issues! Today I can start releasing the pressure of being a small business owner…BUT the memories made, the people I have met, the children and their parents, my amazing staff members…all of the positive is flooding my emotions this morning! I will forever be grateful for the blessings of the community of people that supported my school and my family! I want to sit back and take in every moment of my last full day today! My last day of school!!!❤️❤️

We will be having a huge yard sale at the end of this month and beginning of June to sell everything in our building. (Andy and I are moving so we are having to close our school.) We will be selling toys, manipulatives, art supplies, classroom furniture and more! (Plus 3 afterschool vans)

I hope all of my preschoolers are enjoying the snow! I grew up in Cabarrus County and I don’t remember a snow like this since I was in high school in the early 90s! It doesn’t happen often!! Share your photos on this post of your child having fun in the snow!!!

Cabarrus County Schools families and staff:

Due to hazardous road conditions in parts of our county, all Cabarrus County Schools will be CLOSED on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. There will not be a make-up day due to additional hours built into the calendar.

KIDS:PLUS will not operate, and all athletic, extra-curricular, and community use events and activities are cancelled for Tuesday, January 27, 2026, as well.

Employees should check staff email or visit the Finance Department website for reporting instructions.

The safety of our students and staff is a top priority for Cabarrus County Schools. Please be safe in your travels. Thank you for your support and understanding.
