Southern Stars Bilingual Preschool, formerly A+ Preschool

I have bittersweet news. ❤️ As of July 1, 2025 I am gifting the preschool to Mrs. Jennifer. The name will change to ✨Southern Stars Bilingual Preschool. ✨Mrs. Jennifer will continue to provide the same level of care and education we have always given.

I opened the preschool 10 years ago. I wanted to create a safe space where parents could leave their children without worrying about their safety or emotional well being. I wanted to be with my own children and provide a strong educational foundation for them and their classmates. Although I have relied on the preschool to support my family, I never viewed it as a business. I have always viewed the school as a way to share my love for children and education with others. Honestly, I thought I would never leave the preschool. My path took a turn when I accepted a position as Associate Dean of Education at Central Piedmont Community College.

Fast forward nearly two years later to today… working a full time job and owning the preschool is hard. I have been contemplating for a while which position to walk away from, which to keep. I am drawn to staying with the college because my work there is just getting started. We are building a program that could potentially help thousands of Spanish speaking people earn an Associates degree in any subject entirely through courses given in Spanish and English. I have been a part of writing programs that allow more paths into education for teachers throughout the state, in all grade levels. I am still making a difference and helping people, but on a broader scale.

It’s incredibly difficult for me to let the preschool go. I built this from nothing. It has served its purpose in my life-to make a difference for people and allow me to stay close to my children. It’s time for me to move on and allow the preschool to make an impact in someone else’s life now. Mrs. Jennifer has been with me for many years. She is kind, compassionate, genuine, and one of my most favorite people in the world. Her love for the preschool families is undeniable. She has a degree in education and understands how children learn. I could not be more proud to entrust one of the most important pieces of my life to her.

To all the families who have walked through the preschool doors, I want to say thank you for 10 amazing years of love and support. It has meant the world to me that you have entrusted me with one of the most important pieces of your life. To my incredible teachers, you are the hardest to leave. The love you have for the children, and the unwavering support you have given me throughout this journey will never be forgotten. I literally could not have walked this path without you.
