This week's MDUSD Friday Letter spotlights: Riverview Middle School's Hispanic and Latine Heritage Month Celebration held in partnership with the Hokali afterschool program, MDUSD celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month through October 15, we continue to support Attendance Awareness Month, our Governing Board will meet on September 23, where trustees will receive an update on facilities at College Park High School and hold public hearings on textbook sufficiency and the District's intent to grant an easement to PG&E; student vocalists from middle and high schools across MDUSD took the field at Oracle Park on September 9 to perform the National Anthem before the San Francisco Giants faced the St. Louis Cardinals; reclassification celebration for Multilingual students at Concord High, El Dorado Middle School, and Westwood Elementary; Focal Scholar Secondary students attend UCAN HBCU College Fair;

"Cafecito Con Las Consejeras" (Coffee with the counselors) for MDUSD families is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon) Saturday, Sept 26 at Shore Acres Elementary in Bay Point. MDUSD's African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) Back to School Night held last Thursday in Bay Point informed families about student supports and resources. The Districtwide AAPAC meets monthly to bring together representatives from school level AAPACs. The Concord, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek police departments will be participating in E-Bike Enforcement Day on Thursday, Sept. 17th, along with Contra Costa Sheriffs and East Bay Regional Parks on trails.

🚲 Bicycle & E-Bike Safety Enforcement Day Sept 17 🚲

Walnut Creek PD will be teaming up with local agencies to help keep our roads and regional trails safe for everyone

📅 Enforcement Day: September 17

Officers will focus on bicycle and e-bike safety, including speed regulations, helmet requirements, and traffic laws on city streets and regional trails.

Whether you ride a traditional bicycle or an e-bike, remember:

🔹 Obey posted speed limits
🔹 Wear a helmet
🔹 Follow all applicable traffic laws
🔹 Ride responsibly around pedestrians and other trail users
🔹 Share the roads. Share the trails.

Participating agencies include the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department, San Ramon Police Department, Dublin Police Department, Danville Police Department, Walnut Creek Police Department, Concord Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Pleasant Hill Police Department, Pleasanton Police Department, and Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff.
