The New Hampshire Intellectual Freedom Helpline is seeking volunteers!
The Helpline connects library workers facing intellectual freedom challenges to peers who volunteer to share expertise, resources, and support. This is an initiative through NELA and funded through an ALA grant.
Inquiries to the Helpline are related to material challenges and other intellectual freedom issues. All inquiries and work done by volunteers are confidential. Inquiries may be direct challenges or soft pressures to deny access to information. People reporting may be looking for support or may simply submit a form to help us track these challenges and pressures.
Volunteers will likely be asked to help with no more than one or two challenges each year. Volunteers may expect to spend as little as a half-an-hour on a case or several hours over several days. You will have the opportunity to opt out of specific assignments. Every effort will be made to match you with a library similar to your own. We will not ask you to take a new assignment until the current one concludes.
