The Rosen Publishing Northern New England School Librarian of the Month is an award that recognizes Maine School Libraries Maine Association of School Librarians (MASL), School Library Section of the NH Library Association ( NHSLS , formerly NHSLMA), and Vermont Library Association Vermont School Library Association (VSLA) members who provide outstanding service to their school community or to the school library community.

Jessie has long been a contributing member of our state association. She was one of the key founders of the Collaboratory Makerspace at The Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference. She previously served as New Hampshire’s Intellectual Freedom Chair, where she supported school librarians as they navigated challenges related to access to information, censorship, and library materials. Jessie mentors new librarians and has been a go-to resource for navigating district policy. She is consistently generous with her expertise, time, and materials.

🍎 Established in 1950, the Rosen Publishing Group Rosen Publishing Group offers engaging print and digital books on a wide range of topics that are aligned with the curriculum. Rosen is also known for databases
and interactive e-books.

This generous award includes a set of Rosen Publishing print titles 📚 for the Bedford High School library as well as a year’s subscription to a Rosen database 💻 .

The NH school library community is fortunate to have a librarian of Jessica’s caliber in our ranks.

Congratulations, Jessie! 📚

Some New Hampshire school libraries (like mine MVMS Library Media Center ) are already humming with students, while others are spending a few more days putting on the finishing touches before the doors open! 📚✨

Whether you’re in full back-to-school flow or scrambling to finish bulletin boards, catalog new titles, and hunt down missing barcode scanners, we see you working your library magic.

How are you spending this coming week—welcoming your first classes, putting the final touches on your displays, or grabbing that extra cup of coffee before the bell rings? Drop a comment below and let us know! ☕👇

The New Hampshire Intellectual Freedom Helpline is seeking volunteers!

The Helpline connects library workers facing intellectual freedom challenges to peers who volunteer to share expertise, resources, and support. This is an initiative through NELA and funded through an ALA grant.

Inquiries to the Helpline are related to material challenges and other intellectual freedom issues. All inquiries and work done by volunteers are confidential. Inquiries may be direct challenges or soft pressures to deny access to information. People reporting may be looking for support or may simply submit a form to help us track these challenges and pressures.

Volunteers will likely be asked to help with no more than one or two challenges each year. Volunteers may expect to spend as little as a half-an-hour on a case or several hours over several days. You will have the opportunity to opt out of specific assignments. Every effort will be made to match you with a library similar to your own. We will not ask you to take a new assignment until the current one concludes.

Sign up to train and learn more. Attending the training will not commit you to participating.
