A Day of Hebrew Learning My Jewish Learning's celebration of Global Hebrew Language Day

In Hebrew there are many verbs that are so expressive yet don't exist in English. One of my favorites is about vegetation on the earth in the Creation story, which we read this Shabbat as we begin anew the cycle of reading the Torah. The verb means "to grass," or "sprout vegetation."

Here's the painting I started on the eve of Yom Kippur, which feels like it's made for this. "Let the earth grass grass."
