The Nature Connection

Small nature center that specializes in therapeutic nature programs to support the human spirit through plants & small animals.

We travel to memory care units, group homes, day centers, and therapeutic/special education schools. Since 1983, The Nature Connection has been a leader in nature-based programming and works to create a world in which the therapeutic and educational benefits of nature are accessible to all, regardless of location, demographics, personal abilities, or socioeconomic status. While we all benefit from

access to nature, The Nature Connection primarily works with residential facilities, day programs, therapeutic schools, and after-school programs to bring the benefits of nature directly to youth at-risk, low-income families, children and adults living with disabilities, and elders with memory loss or other cognitive impairments. Our programming goals are to improve participants’ psychological and social wellbeing while fostering environmental responsibility and cultivating an understanding of the human-nature relationship.

We closed out the fiscal year by celebrating the completion of our 1,000 Hours of Connection Campaign! 🌿

Our summer intern, joined by Peaches, our Angora rabbit, colored in the very last square, marking the final donation of the campaign.

Thank you to every single person who purchased a square and helped provide one hour of meaningful connection for an individual in our programs.

Our supporters helped create moments like the ones many of us are experiencing this summer. Maybe you’ve felt the sand and waves move through your toes at the ocean 🐚 Maybe you’ve watched a dragonfly land on a flower 🌻or stopped to listen to frogs croaking in a pond 🐸 These simple moments in nature calms our nervous systems and create meaningful connections with ourselves, each other, and the natural world.

Nature Linc and Nature Connection have more than just first names in common.
While our mission at Nature Linc focuses specifically towards youth, Nature Connection works to improve the relationship between nature and people of all ages and abilities.

Our teens visited Nature Connection where they were able to learn more about their program and engage with their current resident animals and reptiles.

Afterwards we took time outside to reflect on everything we experienced and learned.

Linc + Connection = Nature access for All.

We were thrilled to have Lisa and Denver of Premier Video Production help us transform The Nature Connection to a recording studio last week 🎬

Thank you to our volunteers, program partners, participants, staff, and board who had a hand in this project that has been a labor of love these last few months.

We can’t wait to see the finished product at Inspire 2026 🪶 on October 22 at Sanctuary Cultural Arts Center in Maynard.

Just another day at the office... with a little help from our animal ambassadors. 🦎💻

Did you know that some of our program animals come from community members who generously share their beloved pets with us? Their incredible animals help bring meaningful nature experiences to our participants.

Today, Ramses the bearded dragon is hard at work as our newest intern, studying entomology at N.C.U. (Nature Connection University). 😆 He loves perching on our desks, supervising the team, and making sure we're planning the best programs possible.

A colorful surprise had everyone gathering in for a closer look! 🐛

Participants at a facility for adults with disabilities were amazed to discover these Cecropia moth caterpillars.

These beauties will become the largest moth in North America, with an impressive wingspan of 5–7 inches!
