In Ms. Crisp's Design & Discovery class, students are taking geometry from the page to the real world by designing precise patterns from flat pieces of poster board and carefully calculating measurements and angles so their designs can be folded, connected, and transformed into 3D geometric shapes.

This hands-on challenge requires more than just creativity; it puts math, spatial reasoning, precision, problem-solving, and critical thinking to work. Students have to think ahead, test their designs, identify what isn’t working, and make adjustments to create a successful final product.

It’s a great example of how STEM learning connects mathematical concepts to real-world design and engineering challenges.

There are lots of great things happening at NCHS. Last week, Mr. Martin's engineering class designed a roller coaster using limited supplies and a budget. Earlier this week, students presented their coasters. They did a great job, and the conversations we had with students demonstrated their critical thinking skills and collaboration. Well done!

We are looking for individuals in STEM career fields to speak with our students. If you are in a STEM field and would like to come out to share your expertise, please complete this Google form, and our STEM coach will get in touch with you. https://forms.gle/HEfucosU5HF3T2bZA Based on our BOY student survey, our students are specifically interested in architecture, structural and mechanical engineering, computer science, bioengineering, graphic design, forensics, and medicine.

If you work in a STEM field and are willing to speak with our STEM students, we would love to have you complete this form so we can get in touch and set up a date and time.

Happy 1st Day of School, NCHS!

It’s officially the 60th year of Northwest Cabarrus High School, and we know it’s going to be an amazing one! 🧡🖤🧡We have lots of exciting things planned for our students, and we can’t wait to get started, but we need your help!

We are collecting:
-Old CDs/DVDs
-Paper towel or wrapping paper rolls
-Bottle caps
-CLEANED food cans
-Old frisbees

These items will be put to creative use in projects and activities throughout the school year. All items can be labeled for STEM and dropped off in the front office.

Help us kick off the 2026–2027 school year by getting our agricultural facilities ready for another year of hands-on learning!

⏰ Starting at 9:00 AM

Whether you can stay for an hour or the whole morning, we'd love to have your help! These workdays are a great opportunity to earn service hours, spend time with fellow FFA members, and help create an environment where students can learn, grow, and succeed.

Many hands make light work, and together we'll make sure our facilities are ready for an amazing school year!
