Sure, automatic blood pressure machines have their place…

But nothing beats a stethoscope, a manual cuff, and knowing how to actually assess your patient. 💙

At East Bay CNA Academy, we don’t just teach students to push buttons—we teach them to understand the why behind every skill.

This week our students are mastering one of my favorite topics:
🩺 Manual blood pressures
❤️ Radial pulse counting
🫁 Respirations
🌡️ Temperature
📋 The fundamentals of vital signs

There’s something satisfying about hearing those Korotkoff sounds through your stethoscope and knowing you earned that reading the old-fashioned way.

As we wrap up our final week of theory, our students are getting ready to head into clinicals where they’ll put everything they’ve learned over the past two weeks into real-world practice.

Because great CNAs aren’t made by machines—they’re built on strong fundamentals.

(And yes… I’ll probably still reach for the manual cuff before the machine every time. 😂)
