I’m SO glad that preview show 2026 was able to happen. I know the weather forecast wasn’t great for either our original date or the rain date, but I’m glad the weather held out and so glad we were able to have the event. Thanks to all my fellow directors for bringing your bands, being hospitable to us, and a special thanks to Keith Lee and the Mt Pleasant band parents for hosting and making all of the arrangements and re-arrangements to make today a smooth and awesome day. Have a great rest of the weekend, everyone. Marching Wolverines, I hope you get some rest tomorrow and are ready to continue our quest to further “New York State of Mind.” Today was fun and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season with our band as well as getting to experience the other shows we saw today again throughout the season plus other bands we get to experience.

Happy homecoming, everyone! Today was a long week, but so much fun crammed into one day. 2 pep rallies, a parade, a homecoming game. That was all so much fun( let’s continue the party with a preview show tomorrow….shall we?!

Thank you to the Cabarrus County Schools board of education for welcoming the West Cabarrus brass quintet to perform the National Anthem at the meeting this evening. It was an honor to perform and we thank you for all you do to support us in our education and supporting us in the opportunities we have through our school performing arts programs.

Four of our Marching Wolverines attended the UNC Charlotte Marching Band day this past Saturday. Go Marching Wolverines, and Go Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band! Menia, Yazmin, David, and Leonna, great job! We can't wait to hear about your adventures and all that you learned this weekend.

The Cabarrus County Schools Preview of Champions is coming up on Saturday, September 12, 2026! Gates open at 4:15 PM, and the show kicks off at 5:00 PM.

This is a night where all of the marching band programs across our county come together to premiere their competitive field shows for each other and the community — a great evening of pageantry, camaraderie, and a first look at what our students have been working so hard on all summer!

Admission:
General Admission: $10.00
Cash and Credit/Debit Cards accepted
Free admission: Children 5 and under, Cabarrus County Schools Gold Card holders, Teachers/Staff with school ID

What a great Friday night July…I mean September football game. I’m so proud of the Marching Wolverines for persevering as we had all indoor rehearsals this week due to heat restriction but still marched a great entrance into the stadium, did a great job with pregame, and played a solid halftime performance as well as the variety of stand tunes we added. Thanks to our parents and supporters and the Marching Wolverines themselves for a fun night of music and school spirit. Have a safe and wonderful weekend, everyone!

For the first time in a decade, "The President's Own" United States Marine Band returns to Greensboro!

Founded in 1798, the Marine Band is America's oldest continuously active professional musical organization and has performed for every U.S. President since John Adams. This special concert, part of the band's 2026 National Concert Tour, will feature a program inspired by the legacy of John Philip Sousa, including traditional band repertoire, Sousa marches, contemporary works, outstanding soloists, and a patriotic salute to the Armed Forces.

The concert is free, but tickets are required for admission. Tickets will be available beginning September 30, 2026 at bands.uncg.edu.
