Fowl Farms / Gemini Apothecary

Fowl Farms / Gemini Apothecary Multiple Interest Family Farm and Herbalist/Apothecary Products: Classes in gardening + skin care Fowl Farms is a family farm created in 2001.

Fowl Farms was created by Kim Hicks as a support system for her family, since her children were allergic to store-bought eggs and milk. At Venture Academy in Phoenix, Kim worked hard to make the farms and gardens prosper and was the Animal and Garden Sciences Director of the program at the school created by her. "AdVENTURE's in Farming" lasting 8 years at Venture and has continued on in its next i

ncarnation... teaching hundreds of people, young and old about animals and garden sciences. As an avid off-grid advocate, Kim has always learned the skills of our forefathers and has sought to learn more through teaching. Canning, weaving, jewelry, sewing and cooking with herbs are some favorites. After a lengthy illness, Kim became more interested in herbs and herbal products and began a multi year odyssey of healing and study using herself as guinea pig. She has now opened Gemini Apothecary and is creating new products...the first of which was Solid Lotion...a unique product...fully organic and amazing for the skin. "I want everyone to know that all my products are created with good intentions, solid practices and loving care. If it is not of good quality, I will not sell it. I hope my creations help people feel more empowered to look into herbs and find their own miracles in the Natural World."

There are days...nay, MONTHS!...that I dont need anything from my Apothecary except Lip Balm... but there are ALSO days that I get hurt and its bad enough or painful enough that I need to consider going to the Doctor or the ER.
It's even more annoying when I'm alone and cannot get a good look at whatever the problem is.

Monday was one of those Days.

I was distracted and our VERY EXCITABLE FURRY TODDLER: Juniper, decided to make a travel lane between me, my body and the door.

SUFFICE IT TO SAY: IT DID NOT GO WELL.

I ended up with a cut in my eyebrow, blood everywhere, a concussion and swelling that made my face look like CroMagnon Man...

To add to this, I know that with my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, neither lidocaine nor skin glue would stay...I would be treated like a crazy person at the ER due to me explaining my medically complex diagnoses and if I cried, I'd be pressured into psych drugs like so many times in the past.

So I decided to stay home and treat myself. I asked a friend come to look at it since in the incident I lost my glasses and couldn't see JACK.

Which I Believe was not only my best choice, but my only choice if I wanted to be in charge of my own care.

And I have got to say that my eyebrow, eye, face and concussion look/feel a HECK OF A LOT BETTER than if I had paid premium fees for sub-par service at the nearest ER.

7 hours After my accident, my eyebrow was closed enough in my opinion to utilize my Wintergreen Liniment with RSO...and because of the pain, I was SO GRATEFUL that the combination of Comfrey and RSO is such a fast pain reliever.

TODAY, My eyebrow cut is smaller, closed and no sign of infection.
My bruising is already to the yellow stage, almost reabsorbed.

If I had gone to the ER, I'd have had more trauma from extra cleaning, multiple lidocaine shots and either stitches (more trauma) or already peeled off glue...and not only a giant bill, but probably a LOT of disrespectful treatment and emotional upheaval.

I AM NOT TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO...I AM TELLING YOU WHAT WORKS FOR ME.

Herbalism has not only put me in charge of my own care, it has given me confidence to stand up and do what I consider best for myself.

Attention Gemini Apothecary Shop Customers!

Gemini Apothecary will close its Shop on the 61 in Concho in preparation for: _______________!!!

Shhhhhhh!!! It's a SECRET!!!

We will still have our online shop open, but the Shop is too small for the Grand Ideas we are planning.

Stay Tuned for a Big Announcement in the next few weeks and months as GA does things that I as an Herbalist, Rancher, Gardener and (former) social worker have always dreamed...for 30+ years!

If my Neighbors have any needs, I can meet at The Jiffy in Concho.

Be Well, My Friends!!!

We lost the Birthing Shed in the 76-79mph winds yesterday...

But although I had to crawl into the shed to rescue 4 kids and a Doe while the storm raged and Husband and I couldn't hear each other over those Gale-Force Winds...all the livestock are alive.
Thank The Lord.

Gemini Apothecary will be closed Friday, but for now, the shop will be open Saturday.
