📢Heads up, Head Start Families!📢 Tomorrow's Summer Family Engagement Event may be moved if the weather is rainy. We hope to keep it at Mulick Park, but if it looks like rain, we will be moving it indoors to the Alger Head Start gym.

Summer is HERE and we are kicking things off in the BEST way possible — and we want YOU there! This is your official invitation to come out, connect with other Head Start families, and make some amazing memories together! Each week this summer, we'll be popping up at parks and sites across the community for a morning (or afternoon) packed with fun, laughter, and good vibes. 🎉

Rock the Block: Unplugged is a scaled, intentional version of our long-running Rock the Block street festival-bringing the heart of Southtown together in a closer, more connected space.

This year's event focuses on what matters most: building relationships, celebrating culture, and expanding access to critical resources, that support wellness, housing, and opportunity for all.

• Local Vendors: Support small businesses from right here in our community.
• Family-Friendly Activities & Entertainment: Music, games, and experiences for all ages.

Last Friday was our Third Annual Glimmer Awards Ceremony! We recognized staff for an array of achievements, including attendance, years of service, winning some end-of-year competitions, and of course our big ticket item--exemplifying our agency's Core Values. We are excited to announce the opening of the Early Childhood Learning Center at The Rapid Central Station in Grand Rapids. In partnership with W.K. Kellogg Foundation, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Public Schools, The Rapid Transit Authority, and Pure Architects, we are honored to be a part of this project and attend the ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, June 8th.

The facility aims to make childcare more accessible and affordable for bus riders. The center is officially open and children enrolled will start in September!

Today, we’re celebrating our 2025–2026 retirees and recognizing the lasting impact they’ve made on children, families, and our community.
