Dogs woof and roof, small dogs yip and yap, big dogs go bow-wow (recognize this sound?). Angry dogs growl, scared dogs whimper, some dogs even howl.

Cats meow, but they also purr and hiss (and make all kinds of scary sounds in the middle).

Horses neigh (nei), sheep (and goats) baa, and pigs go oink.

Birds sing, chirp, trill, warble, tweet, and tweeter. Lots of birds today also koo.

👉Officially, to hang out means to protrude (eg: a 🐶 dog with her tongue 👅hanging out) or to actually hang a 📜plaque or a sign outside.

👉But eventually a hangout came to be a place where people go for the most various purposes – including no purpose at all✨✨

👉The expression got a spinoff: to hang out, spending time not doing anything specific - or anything at all✨✨

👉It became so popular, Google named a meeting app Hangouts.

👉If someone invites you to hang out, it means they find your company so nice they don’t need a 📽movie or some fancy food🍤: they’re happy just spending time with you.

👍The “L” in the beginning of words of syllable isn’t usually a problem for Brazilians, but when it comes in the end, common words like ⚽️ball🏀, 📱cell🦠, 🤸‍♀️roll🎸 or ♟pole 🤸‍♀️turn into “bóu, céu, hôu or pôu🙈

🤗This is perfectly understandable for someone who speaks Portuguese, but for English speakers it always sounds strange and, sometimes, not possible to understand 😫

👅So get your tongue out and roll with it 🗣
